Principal Message Principal Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy Easter Everybody,

We have come to the end of another short but full week. Starting with Hot Lunch from the Lighthouse Restaurant on Monday.

Tuesday all classes had Farm safety presentations, and we had our monthly School Council Meeting.

Wednesday and Thursday were parent teacher interviews. If you did not get a chance to talk to your student's teacher you can reach out to them directly in order to arrange a time to talk.

Next week we are here all 5 days. With a pancake breakfast on Tuesday provided by our School Council Volunteers, A picnic lunch on Wednesday, which parents are invited to attend and then our Spring Tea @ 1pm On Friday. We hope to see lots of members of our community join us for some snacks, refreshments and performances by our students.

Some of you may have recently seen that retired, long term Wildwood Teacher Lisl Gunderman was featured in a news story about her and her husbands project restoring a snow plane. If you would like to take a look please see the link.

If you have children you would like to sign up for 2025-26 JK program please see this link. Register by the end of the month to be entered to win a new chromebook.

Make sure you check out the bottom of this newsletter and see some of the exciting events that are being planned around our communities. Also check out a chance to enter to win two tickets to the Grouch's Ball below.

Sincerely,

Alan Stoyles

Principal

Attendance Update Attendance Update

Our automated safe arrival system has been running for a few weeks now. We are gong to make a slight update. Rather that emailing the teacher or Mrs. Vankosky directly we have created a central email. wwabsence@gypsd.ca We are asking that parents who email in absences begin using this email address as it allows us to ensure updated attendance even when teachers of the secretary is away.

Retirement Announcement Retirement Announcement

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Mrs. Shirley Vankosky will be retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. Vankosky has been a staple of Wildwood School over they years. The voice of attendance calls, the front desk, the glue that keeps our school together on a day to day basis. While she has well earned this retirement (her second from GYPSD), she will be sorely missed by staff and community a like. We wish her all the best in her retirement.

Spotlight on School Success: Learning Support Teacher/RTI Spotlight on School Success: Learning Support Teacher/RTI

All of our students know Miss Sammie Weninger as their PE teacher, and those in 3/4 one of their classroom teachers. But what is less known is her important other role as the Wildwood School Learning Support Teacher or LST for short. LSTs work behind the scenes too ensure that students are fully supported with their various learning needs. They play a critical role in planning and implementing student support plans, supporting teachers with interventions, and organizing assessments.

As part of her role Miss Weninger works with Mrs. Gayle Kowalchuck to provide reading intervention to students who need some extra help with their reading, through our RTI program.
