Cahaba's Christmas Around the World: A Multicultural Celebration Cahaba's Christmas Around the World: A Multicultural Celebration

Our specialists teamed up for a Multicultural Christmas unit that gave students the opportunity to explore holiday traditions from around the world. Each class focused on a different country: Art studied Finland, Music explored England, Library and Counseling highlighted Italy, and STEM investigated Germany. Through stories, music, art, and hands-on activities, students learned how different cultures celebrate Christmas.

The unit concluded with a festive carnival experience where students rotated through stations featuring country-specific games, activities, and art connected to their learning. This collaborative celebration brought the unit to life and helped students deepen their understanding of global traditions while enjoying a fun and meaningful holiday experience together.

Second grade students at Paine Elementary enjoyed an engaging Christmas Around the World unit aligned with learning about continents, holidays, and cultural awareness. Each day, students “traveled” to a new country, learned how Christmas is celebrated, practiced saying “Merry Christmas” in different languages, and tasted foods from around the world

.

With the help of wonderful community volunteers—including a pilot, a mother from Brazil, and a father from New Zealand—students gained a meaningful understanding of global traditions and immigration. What a special learning experience!

The Engineering Academy had two teams present their ideas to NASA this week. One team (Syed and Nicholas) is designing a shower for space - this is a very difficult task in micro gravity. Another team (Liam, Grayson, and Nathan) is designing a robot that will jump vertically so that it can take long range pictures to help with navigation on the Moon and Mars. These teams have been researching and brainstorming ideas for their solutions. They had their PDR (preliminary design review) with NASA on Wednesday to make sure that they were addressing their problems correctly. We are so proud of these students and their hard work.
