Riverview Report
Here's What's Happening at Riverview
A Message from Ms. Poulson
Happy October! Fall is in the air and I am loving it. The change in seasons always brings new joy and energy with it. Our students are settled into school and already showing tremendous academic growth! We thank our teachers and students, as well as each parent, for making this growth possible. We have an exciting month ahead of us with some big events coming up in the next few weeks.
Fall Break will start October 15th. This year we also have Monday off for a PC Comp Day. This means there will be no school on Thursday 10/15, Friday 10/16, and Monday 10/19. Halloween is on a Saturday this year, so we will be celebrating at Riverview on Friday 10/30/26. Our Parade will start at 9:00 AM sharp!
We hope you and your family have a wonderful month.
If I can help in any way, please reach out to me.
Thank you,
Ms. Poulson
Sate Wide Read-A-Thon 10/2/26
Nebo School District is excited to participate in Utah’s statewide Read-a-Thon on Friday, October 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The goal of the statewide event is to provide students dedicated time and space to enjoy reading. At Riverview all students and staff will be participating, and we are so excited! We have also decided it would be a great day to have a pajama day as well!
Information About Reading Goals
At parent conferences on 10/1/26, teachers will be talking with parents and students about their reading goals this year. We are excited to share what we are doing this year to reach our big student success goals!
Reflections
Dear Parents,
PTA Reflections is back! Last year, our students submitted 95 entries, and this year we’re hoping to break 100!
The quick version:
ENTRIES DUE: Wednesday, October 14, 2026
Important: That’s the day BEFORE Fall Break begins!
SUBMIT: utahpta.org/ref
THEME: “What My Culture Means to Me”
CELEBRATE: We’ll have a Reflections Awards Ceremony in November, with prizes for every student who participates and special prizes for our winners!
That’s all you need to know to get started! If Reflections is new to your family, keep reading.
What is Reflections?
Reflections is a nationwide PTA arts program that invites students to create an original work inspired by an annual theme. The goal is to encourage creativity and give every student an opportunity to express what the theme means to them. Entries will be scored by category and age range and top entries will progress to regional competitions.
This year, students are invited to explore:
“What My Culture Means to Me”
There are seven categories to enter. Students may submit an entry in as many categories as they wish, but only one entry per category.
- 2D Visual Arts – drawing, painting, collage, etc.
- 3D Visual Arts – sculpture and other three-dimensional artwork
- Photography
- Literature – stories, poetry, essays, etc. This year graphic novels are included, but only the story will be considered, not the artwork.
- Music Composition
- Film Production
- Dance Choreography
Entries should be the student’s own original work and should connect in some way to this year’s theme.
Ready to enter?
Entries are submitted online at:
Please submit by Wednesday, October 14. Since Fall Break begins the very next day, we strongly recommend getting those entries in early!
Last year we ha 95 entries from our students. We would LOVE to see 100+ this year!
And most importantly, we want to celebrate the kids who create something and put themselves out there. Every participant will receive a prize, and we’ll recognize our students at an awards ceremony in November, with additional prizes for our winners.
We can’t wait to see what our students create!
Thanks,
Riverview PTA

Fall Break - No School
Picture Retake Day
Halloween Parade
The Halloween Parade will start at 9:00 am SHARP on Friday, October 30th. We will start by parading through the hallways as we pick up each class to join the parade and then will adventure outside. We invite parents to line the sidewalks around the baseball diamond across the street from the school (it is the closest field to the school). This will be the same as it has been in past years. If you have any questions, you are welcome to call the office or reach out to your child's teacher.
*Students will be allowed to wear their mask during the parade, but won't be able to wear them during school.
*No weapons (even if they are part of their costume) will be permitted.
Thank you!
