Comet Connections

Happy second week of February!

This week our 3rd–5th graders will take their first round of practice STAAR to get comfortable with the online tools and routines. The goal is confidence and familiarity. We’re also continuing to celebrate Black History Month across the campus. Students are engaging in various activities, and our guidance counselor and librarian are partnering with teachers for special lessons that highlight influential leaders and stories. We’re excited to welcome a guest speaker later this month to deepen these conversations and connections for our students, too!

🟡Lost & Found Alert! Our collection is…thriving. Jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and a surprising number of lonely hoodies are waiting for their owners. We’ll set items out during Valentine’s parties and again during parent-teacher conferences. Please take a moment to look through and reunite anything that belongs at home.

Thank you for your partnership and for keeping our Comet community strong (even when Friday the 13th and our Valentine's parties are on the same day!)

With appreciation,
Ms. Abrams

Principal

"Join Austin ISD in celebrating Black History Month! Every February, to honor the multifaceted experiences our Black students, staff and families Austin ISD celebrates Black History Month, a time to highlight the district's commitment to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.

Black History Month provides an opportunity for deeper exploration of Black and African-American history than what is taught throughout the year. Honoring, recognizing and educating ourselves about these histories is important because they represent our collective American history. Each campus receives resources, and campuses are encouraged to collaborate with students and staff to design Black History Month activities that engage, educate and inspire."
