Peterborough Elementary School
May 23, 2024
Dear Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well.
During our All-School Meeting on Thursday morning, our 4th graders shared the purpose, history, and importance of Memorial Day. Taps was played, and the entire school went outside to our flagpole where we recited the Pledge of Allegiance and placed nearly 300 American flags around our flagpole island. While we all enjoy the extra time with friends and family during Memorial Day weekend, please take a moment to reflect and honor the men and women who have served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Have a great weekend,
Larry Pimental

Police on Campus
You may have noticed that there has been a Peterborough Police Officer on school grounds this week. On Monday, a Peterborough Police Office asked my thoughts about an officer being at school at drop-off and pick-up as part of a community relations project that includes being visible at schools. I, of course, said yes. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions- or, better yet, if you are here when an officer is here, please say hello and ask the officer yourself.
Field Day is Coming- June 7th
We are excited about Field Day! Mrs. Morris is planning a great morning filled with fun and active games. Students should bring a change of clothes, a hat, a water bottle, and should have sunscreen applied before arriving to school. PES is also partnering with the PES PTO to bring the Kona Ice Truck to school that day for a cool, icy treat in the afternoon. If your child cannot have, or you prefer that they don't have an icy treat from Kona Ice, please reach out to me so we can still do something special.
Mrs. Morris is looking to see if family members are interested in volunteering. If so, please fill out her survey: Field Day Volunteer.

Thanks to all the students who participated in the Reading With Ribby Challenge. Over 100 students completed the challenge and will be receiving a T-shirt and a family pass to a Keene Swampbats baseball game. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12th at Aulmni Field in Keene. Parents are asked to arrive by 5:15pm at the latest. Parking lots fill up fast, and the parade will start promptly at 5:50pm. We don't want anyone to miss the parade! Students will meet their schools behind the big green grandstands. Look for the PES sign and banner!
