RAIDER Tennis Strikes Again! RAIDER Tennis Strikes Again!

The Rowland High School Boys’ Tennis Team has completed its regular season of play by defeating Northview High School. This win also secured a Back-to-Back Undefeated Valle Vista Season for both the Junior Varsity and Varsity boys’ tennis teams. This year also tested the team from the onset with a very aggressive preseason schedule. The team played some of the best programs out there, including Woodbridge High School out of Irvine and Bergen Catholic High School out of New Jersey. “Our boys set a goal to grow and develop their game. Playing some of the best programs out there definitely prepared them for their regular season of play,” stated Coach Jake Magnant.

The boys completed the regular season of play with an overall 15-6 record and have qualified for the CIF Team Playoffs. Their first round will be against a very balanced Sierra Canyon team. “I think our hard work and dedication from the whole team this season, along with our amazing coaching staff, has allowed us to grow and succeed,” stated Captain and CIF Qualifier Jaysen Mathew.

On the individual side of the season, the boys’ tennis team showed that hard work truly does pay off. Raider tennis is sending several representatives to the CIF Individual Tournament. Led by the Valle Vista Singles MVP, Ian Minarto. Ian also took 1st in the Valle Vista Individual Qualifier for singles. This marks his second MVP award, one in singles and one in doubles. Taking 2nd in singles for the Valle Vista League is rising star and team captain Jaysen Mathew.

On the doubles side, Rowland continued its success as Vincent Lin and Elias Cho took 1st place in the Valle Vista League, while also both receiving the Valle Vista League Doubles MVP award for going undefeated in league play. Rounding out the top 3 in the Valle Vista League was the doubles pair of Jerome Liao and Maddox Galindo.

Ian Minarto and Jaysen Mathew will be representing the Valle Vista League in the CIF Individual Tournament along with Vincent Lin and Elias Cho on May 21st, 2026. Jerome Liao and Maddox Galindo will be CIF Alternates for the Valle Vista League.

“The boys have come a long way since they first started playing for our program. It is humbling to see their growth not just on the courts, but in the classroom as well. Our coaching staff could not be more proud of them,” stated Coach Magnant.

Well done to the entire boys' tennis team and their coaching staff, next stop CIF!
