🐾 A Note From the Principal: My Purpose and Passion💙
Dear Booker Families, Staff, and Scholars,
Welcome back! We had a great week returning from Spring Break, and now it’s time to lock in and finish strong. With just 10 days until STAAR and 25 days until End-of-Year (EOY) assessments, every single day counts.
We encourage all families to continue building momentum at home by motivating your child to stay focused, engaged, and confident. Our scholars have made tremendous academic growth, and we are incredibly proud of their progress. However, we still have important work ahead—especially in closing the academic gaps among our student groups to ensure we sustain a “B” rating.
Our goal is clear: an 82—and we know we can get there! Assessments are important—they reflect our students’ hard work, growth, and commitment to success. Let’s continue to encourage our scholars to give their absolute best every single day.
🔥 STAAR Countdown: 10 Days — The Final Push!
Booker Families, this is where it matters most!
- Strong attendance is critical—no missed days!
- Avoid early check-outs unless absolutely necessary
- Ensure students arrive on time and ready to learn
- Encourage a positive mindset: “I can do this!”
- Attend SATURDAY SCHOOL - April 11 and April 18
We are focused. We are prepared. We are Booker strong!
📚 At-Home Support Tips for Success
Support your child at home with just 20–30 minutes daily:
- Sirius (3–5) – STAAR-aligned reading and math support - 3rd - 5th Students 45 min per day
- Amplify Boost Reading (Grades 3–5) – Builds ready stamina and comprehension
- i-Ready (K–5) – Personalized reading and math practice
- Writable (K–5) – Strengthen writing skills
- Amira Reading (Grades 2-5) - Builds reading fluency and comprehension
- Ask your child: “What did you learn today?” and have them explain it back to you
- Have them log on to these programs versus SOCIAL MEDIA! It will definitely help them!
Small, consistent efforts at home make a BIG difference!
As we move into this week, please note that in observance of Good Friday, school will be closed on Friday. We wish all of our Booker families a safe, joyful, and restful Easter 3-day weekend. Enjoy this time with your loved ones, and we look forward to seeing everyone back ready to continue the work!
Together in Culture • Together in Accountability

Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed
Booker Families, Staff, and Scholars,
As we move deeper into STAAR PREP to ensure our students are ready, I want to take a moment to celebrate our progress while clearly outlining what is ahead—and how essential your partnership is during this time. Right now, if Booker were to take STAAR, our performance places us at a “C” rating, only being 14 students from a B rated campus! That means that every child counts! That is growth worth celebrating, and we are incredibly proud of our scholars and staff for the strong work demonstrated last semester. But, every instructional day matters, and momentum is key as we push forward together.
and
Families, please take time to ask your child:
How are you doing on your Exit Tickets and Do Nows?
Log in to Sirius and let's work some problems together..
Log into Writable and let's work some problems together.
What are you doing right now to meet your STAAR and EOY goals in Reading, Math, and Science?
The countdown continues:
10 days until STAAR
TELPAS IS COMPLETE! GREAT JOB TO OUR ESL AND BILINGUAL STUDENTS AND STAFF!
This work is about more than testing—it is about growth, consistency, and changing outcomes for students. Through intentional instruction, strategic support, and shared accountability, we remain committed to moving Booker from a Forced F to a C or better. And while a C reflects progress, we all know the goal—a “B” is for Booker.
GUESS WHO WILL SOON BE ...MOVING ON UP?
