As we approach the festive holiday season, I want to take a moment to extend my sincere gratitude to our remarkable community of parents, dedicated staff, and brilliant students.

Collectively, we have cultivated a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students to learn and thrive. The 21 schools in the Huntington Park, Walnut Park, Vernon Community of Schools are tirelessly working to ensure the success of every student. This holiday break, we are thrilled to have over 1000 students participating in the Winter Academy.

As we come together with our loved ones to celebrate, let's reflect on the warmth and joy that this season brings. May your holidays be brimming with laughter, love, and cherished moments with family and friends.

Thank you for being an indispensable part of our K-12 family. Your dedication to education and the well-being of our students is truly commendable. Here's to a festive season filled with happiness, relaxation, and the company of those you hold dear. Take this time to rest and rejuvenate, ensuring we return in January with renewed energy and enthusiasm for the upcoming spring semester.

Bridging Inclusivity through Sports - Huntington Park vs. Linda Marquez High Schools

In an exciting display of teamwork and unity, the recent soccer tournament between Huntington Park High School and Linda Marquez High School showed the power of inclusion in sports. Held under the banner of the Adapted Physical Education (APE) Sports Program, this event was not just about competition; It was a celebration of collaboration and shared achievements.

The LAUSD Adaptive Physical Education Department, in partnership with Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC), has been fostering inclusive events at several schools, emphasizing the fusion of abilities rather than differences. This sports program is a testament to their commitment to inclusive learning and comprehensive motor development opportunities.

The heart of this event lies in the fusion of students with and without disabilities. It is a space where differences dissolve and a shared passion for fitness and sport unites everyone. Preparing for sporting events like these is not just about perfecting techniques; It's about building camaraderie and mutual respect.

Beyond the scoreboard, the tournament echoed the values of teamwork, perseverance and mutual respect. The students embodied true sportsmanship, showing off their skills while supporting each other wholeheartedly. Their dedication was demonstrated not only through their athletic prowess but also in the bonds they forged, transcending differences to create a unified front.
