Dear Rogers Families,
Here, I'll share the final installment of the Bridges in Mathematics helpful information and tips for parents as they support their children at home in math.
Bridges in Mathematics offers opportunities for families to stay connected in their child’s learning. All students kindergarten through fifth grade have a Home Connections book, which have short assignments that provide students an opportunity to practice and share their math thinking at home. This may include puzzles, games, or practice problems tied to what’s happening in the class.
Unit Assessments are opportunities for teachers to formally assess student learning, guide their instruction and support each learner’s needs. Each unit assessment highlights skills that are developing and skills for proficiency. Students may still be developing some concepts, so scoring is less about a total percentage and more about identifying what they can do. It is not recommended to give students study guides that mimic the assessment. Home Connections and student journal pages are good resources for reviewing concepts.
Family Assessment Letters will be sent home with each assessment to indicate which problems and concepts students are working toward developing and which concepts are proficient. The second page of the Family Assessment Letters will include QR codes and links for additional practice and opportunities to extend concepts at home.

Winter Weather & Clothing
As we enter into winter months we will experience some colder weather which will impact our students. We will invite students inside for an inside line-up no earlier than 7:45 am whenever the temperature is 9 degrees or less with the windchill. We have an organized system that allows students to line up in the hallways. However, if the weather is above 9 degrees (factoring in the windchill) we will have students wait outdoors each morning and go outside for recess each day. Please have your children dress appropriately for the weather in the event we do remain outside. Proper winter attire may include winter coats, gloves, hats, snow pants and boots.
Although we have some extras in the office we do not have enough to outfit each child.
If you need assistance with winter clothing, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly as we are fortunate to have anonymous donors who may be able to provide such items.

📵Electronic Devices
We respectfully ask that students do not use a communication device during any part of the school day. Devices are a distraction and could be sadly lost. Devices, if they must be brought to school, should be powered off and in lockers during the entire day. Smart watches should be for checking time and not games or communication. Thank you for supporting the staff and allowing uninterrupted learning throughout our school day.
