It is the beginning of October and we are 5 weeks into our school year. It is exciting to see that our students are engaged in the "meat" of the curricula. We hope Open House gave you the opportunity to learn about subject matter taught at Glover School as well as the methods used in your childrens' classrooms this year. We know Open House is just a glimpse, so please feel free to reach out any time you would like information about your child's classroom, learning, or any aspect of the Glover School.

Read on for more information about Conferences and Bullying Prevention.

As always, we thank you for your continued support and feedback.

October is Bullying Prevention Month October is Bullying Prevention Month

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and this month we are focusing on what it means to be an upstander, someone who helps create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school community.

During our Glover Gathering this morning, we learned from the 3rd grade students in Mrs. Shevory’s class about four simple ways we can all be upstanders:

  • Include others: Make sure everyone feels welcome and included.
  • Speak up: Use your voice when something is unkind or unfair.
  • Offer help: Support someone who may be having a difficult time.
  • Tell an adult: Ask a trusted adult for help when you need it.
Our school-wide goal for the month of October is to BE AN UPSTANDER! We encourage all Glover students to look for opportunities to include others, speak up, offer help, and reach out to an adult when needed.

If a student is feeling left out, having difficulty with a peer situation, or experiencing bullying they should tell a trusted adult. Students can reach out to their classroom teacher, school counselor, or another trusted staff member. Adults at school are here to listen, help students feel safe, and work with them to find solutions.

Together, we can make our school a place where everyone feels safe, supported, included, and that they belong.
