OCTOBER FIELDWORK & CAMPING TRIPS
PoDS Outdoor Education – Fall Fieldwork & Expeditions
As we move into the fall season, students will have the opportunity to participate in our annual outdoor camping trips! These overnight experiences help students build friendships, strengthen relationships, and enjoy hands-on learning outside the classroom!
7th & 8th Grade – Devil’s Lake (Baraboo, WI)
-
Dates: Wednesday, October 8 – Friday, October 10
-
Activities: Tent camping, campfire cooking, hiking, exploring nature, and team-building
-
Cost: $60 per student (includes meals and transportation)
9th & 10th Grade – Trees for Tomorrow (Eagle River, WI)
-
Dates: Wednesday, October 8 – Friday, October 10
-
Activities & Lodging: Students will stay in cabins and eat in the lodge while participating in Environmental and Physical Science lessons, night hikes, ecosystem investigations, wind turbine building, carbon comparisons, and bog exploration
-
Cost: $160 per student (includes programming, lodging, meals, and transportation)
All 7th–10th grade students who do not attend the camping trip will be expected to complete
E-Learning days instead. Since the majority of our teachers will not be in the building on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, or Friday, students should stay home and check Schoology for homework and assignments. These trips are closely tied to our curriculum, so students who do not attend will have coursework to complete. We strongly encourage all students to participate so they don’t miss important content—and to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with classmates, strengthen relationships, and make new friendships!
Important Reminders
-
Contact the office if cost is a concern—we never want finances to prevent participation!
-
Families may help by donating toward another student’s trip.
-
All prescription medications must be submitted to the PoDs office before departure. Students may not self-carry medications; staff will administer them during the trip.
