Safety Drills Safety Drills

Keeping our students and staff safe is one of our most important responsibilities. Throughout the school year, we practice a variety of safety procedures, including fire and evacuation drills, so that everyone in our school community knows what to do in the event of an emergency. During the month of October, we will be conducting a few of these drills in coordination with our local Fire and Police Departments. Our goal is always to make these practices calm, organized, and age-appropriate for our students. We talk with children about drills as a way to practice being safe—just like we practice so many other important things at school. By practicing together, students and staff become more comfortable with our routines and better prepared to respond safely if an emergency should ever occur. We appreciate our families’ partnership as we work together to keep our school community safe.

Attendance Attendance

As we begin a new school year, this is a great time to establish strong routines around school attendance. Being at school consistently helps children build relationships, stay connected to their classroom community, and keep pace with their learning. Even occasional absences can add up over time, so we encourage families to make regular, on-time attendance a priority whenever possible. Of course, there are times when children should stay home—particularly when they have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, a contagious illness, or when they are simply too sick to comfortably participate in the school day. When children are healthy and able to participate, we want them here with us! Establishing strong attendance habits early in the year sends an important message to children that being at school every day matters, and we appreciate our families’ partnership in helping make that happen.

As we begin a new school year, we invite families to help us celebrate the teachers and staff who make Park Avenue Elementary such a special place to learn and grow. If your child’s teacher has made a positive first impression, helped your child feel welcome, sparked excitement about learning, or shown kindness and care, we would love to hear about it! Take a moment to write a Staff Shout-Out and let a staff member know how much their work means to your family. We look forward to celebrating the many ways our staff help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn!

The Pan-Mass Challenge is much more than a bike ride. It is an incredible organization that has raised millions of dollars to support lifesaving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Every participant, volunteer, and supporter plays a role in helping patients and families impacted by cancer. The Kids Ride is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience the joy of giving back, learn the importance of community involvement, and be part of something that truly makes a difference.

There is a $20 registration fee for all riders, but thanks to our generous independent agent partners, the first 100 registered riders will have their registration fee waived when using promo code MAPFRE at checkout.

  1. Register your children and encourage someone you know to ride! The ride is open to children ages 2 to 12.
  2. Sign up to volunteer. We have volunteer positions available to adults and teens!
