Principal's Weekly Update

The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.

Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday of September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. Beginning in the late 19th century, as the trade union and labor movements grew, trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labor. In 1887, Oregon was the first state of the United States to make it an official public holiday. By the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894, thirty states in the U.S. officially celebrated Labor Day.

Fall sports tryouts are starting! See the schedule below:

Flag Football

• Tuesday Sept 3 at 3:30pm
  
• Wednesday Sept 4 at 2:30pm
  
• Thursday Sept 5 at 3:30pm

Volleyball

• Conditioning for volleyball will begin next week on Sept 3 at 3:30pm and continue Wednesday and Thursday at the same time.
  
• Tryouts will begin until September 10.

Everyone that is trying out MUST BE CLEARED by Ms. Brucia before going to tryouts. Ms. Brucia will be in the MPR to clear athletes on those days. Please contact Ms. Brucia with any questions at tinab@fsusd.org.

This week we will be doing MAP testing makeups. If your student missed either their ELA or math test they will be pulled from class to complete it. Please make sure they come to school with their chromebooks fully charged.
