A Personal Farewell Message

Dear Hornet Parents,

As we enter the first week of April, thank you for your continued partnership and support. As we approach the upcoming STAAR testing season, this is a critical time for students to remain focused and engaged in their learning. Over the next several weeks, students will be reviewing key concepts and strengthening skills, and your support at home through ensuring attendance, completing assignments, encouraging reading, and reinforcing a positive mindset plays an important role in helping students feel confident and prepared.

Preparing for STAAR Success

• Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep each evening
• Encourage daily attendance and punctuality
• Provide a quiet space for homework and reading
• Encourage your child to read at least 15 to 20 minutes each day
• Talk with your child about their learning and celebrate their progress

As we move through this final stretch before testing, our goal is to support every student in reaching their full potential. With strong teamwork between school and home, we can help our Hornets feel prepared and successful.

A Personal Message

As many of you are already aware, this will be my final newsletter as principal of Alice Johnson Junior High. I will be transitioning to serve as the Director of Human Resources beginning April 6. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of AJJH. Over my time here, I have had the opportunity to work alongside incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families who make this campus so special. I am proud of the growth we have achieved together and the strong sense of community that defines our school.

I want to thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your unwavering support of our students. It has meant a great deal to me to serve this community and to be a part of your child’s educational journey. I am also pleased to share that Mrs. Priscilla Jones will serve as the new principal of Alice Johnson Junior High. I am confident that under her leadership, the campus will continue to grow and thrive, and that students will remain at the center of all that we do.

Alice Johnson Junior High is in great hands, and I look forward to seeing the continued success of our Hornets. Thank you again for allowing me to serve this community. It has been a privilege I will always value.

Jose Lopez
Principal, Alice Johnson Junior High

Student Hornet Policies

Attention Parents:

We want to ensure that all students are aware of our campus policies and expectations. We have attached the student hornet policies for you to review with your children.

Please be sure to take a look at the dress code, as we have students that have been out of dress code.

English: Hornet Policies

Spanish: Las Políticas De Los Hornets

We are aware that our hornet students want to show their pride at athletic events and we want them to attend as many as possible!

As per the new Channelview Athletic Regulations, students attending games on campus- both Elementary & Middle School must be accompanied by a supervising adult and remain seated with them at all times.

We understand that this is different from previous year, but it is important that we communicate this with you all.

We hope that with your collaboration we can inform all of our students of this new policy!
