Principal Message

Happy Thursday & Happy Leap Year! I have a brother with a Leap Year birthday, and he's 13 today! Finally a teenager. :-) A few items to note:

~ The Buffalo Wild Wings Fundraiser that was scheduled for February 26 is now scheduled for Monday, March 11, which is a conference night. You could come to conferences, go to the book fair, and then go out for supper! See flyer below.

~ Conferences: Conferences will be here before you know it! These are scheduled for March 11, 14, and 18. Here is the link to sign up for conferences--don't delay in getting signed up!

We will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair during conferences--use this link to sign up to volunteer at the book fair--it's fun and easy!!!

Also, the PTO will be looking for volunteers to help bring items for teacher meals--the PTO needs your help with donations. Please use this link to sign up for items needed for conference teacher meals. The PTO thanks you for your help with this.

~ Yearbook: The Yearbook order deadline has passed. We have ordered a few extras. If your child would still like to order a yearbook, they can fill out the form and bring $15 to the office.

~ Panorama SEL Screener window will be open from March 4-21. If you opted your child out of the screener this fall, they will not be taking it in the spring. As a reminder, here is the letter from the Fall of 2023.

~ Save Receipts for School Supplies: The Minnesota Department of Revenue offers two valuable tax benefits for parents who purchase school supplies for their K-12 students: the K-12 Education Credit and Subtraction. These benefits can reduce parents’ taxes to increase their refund, but are only available for those who keep their receipts. Purchases for most school supplies, field trips, and musical instruments for school band are eligible. Most Minnesota parents qualify for the K-12 subtraction, which reduces their taxable income. Parents under certain income limits may also qualify for the K-12 credit, which can refund up to 75% of their costs – even for parents who do not owe any taxes. Visit MN Department of Revenue website for details.

As always, thank you for your support--it matters!

Kindergarten Connection (formerly K Round Up)

Hello to all future Washington Wildcats and welcome to Washington Elementary.

Mark your calendar to join us for Kindergarten Connection on Thursday, April 18th. We will be hosting a Kindergarten Open House from 5:30-7:00. Bring your incoming Kindergarten student to meet the teachers, see our space, get your questions answered, and more! While this is an Open House and you can come and go as it fits your schedule, we will hold a short informational session for parents from 6:00-6:20, so please keep that in mind as you plan your visit.

This exciting event is exclusively for Washington caregivers and your incoming Kindergartener! We cannot wait to meet our new Wildcats!

See you in April!
