It is hard to believe we have already wrapped up our third week of school! Thank you to our families for your support as we establish the expectations and routines that help make Jefferson a great place for students to learn and grow.

As a reminder, individual picture day is Monday, September 14. Class pictures will be taken later this fall on November 9.

Poetry in Motion

KinderSprouts, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students participate in Poetry in Motion as they transition from the classroom to the library. This fall they are learning an adapted version of Come Little Leaves by George Cooper. It is my goal to expose students to poetry containing rich vocabulary and allow them to experience reciting poetry with expression. This oral language practice can help build fluency in their own reading. Ask your student to recite Come Little Leaves for you.

Dear Carnival Classic participants,

We've made the decision to move the Carnival Classic to our backup location: Helena Middle School. We have been watching the weather forecast for Sunday with trepidation, and due to predictions of cold temperatures, rain, thunderstorms and wind, we've made this call. It's been a tough decision, but we think this will be the best fit for all of the activities and performers this year, and we are looking forward to trying something new!

The time will NOT change--we'll begin set-up at 9:00 and the event will go from 11:00-3:00.

If you need assistance paying for your child's meal costs, the Free & Reduced Lunch program is available to help. In addition to meals, participation in the the program helps the district identify students who may benefit from additional assistance with school expenses.
