A Message from the Principal
As we approach Thanksgiving break in the next couple of weeks, I want to take a moment to express how grateful we are for our students and families. Each day at FCMS brings new opportunities to support student growth, and we’re proud of the positive momentum we’re seeing throughout our school.
With the implementation of MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) and PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentive System), we have reduced our disciplinary referrals by more than 200 compared to last year. This progress reflects the combined efforts of our staff, students, and families—and we thank you for your continued partnership.
Our PBIS incentive program has also been a highlight, with our recent trip to the Richmond Bowl serving as a fun and meaningful celebration for students demonstrating positive behavior. Building on these successes, we’re seeing a noticeable improvement in school culture and student engagement.
We know that the middle school years can be some of the most challenging for students. With the ongoing support of parents and guardians, we will continue to make decisions that place students’ well-being and growth at the center of our work.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. We appreciate your support and hope you have a safe and restful Thanksgiving break.

Reading Rockstars
Congratulations to Iris Jones and Gunner Wetzel for receiving my “Reading Rockstars of the Week”. Iris has such a kindness and light about her. She is always showing respect and responsibility in the classroom and hallways. I sure enjoy having her in my class! Gunner works hard to stay caught up on assignments and pays attention to instructions. His behavior and work are always on point! Great job, Iris and Gunner!
Mrs. Ariens
Fun Science Lab in Mrs. Ariens’ 6th grade Science classes-Straw Rockets! Students used their understanding of gravity and motion to experiment with trajectories and distance. Some got quite creative!
Veteran's Day
FCA
FCA was led this morning by Lily Ison. She did a great job sharing with the group how to discuss becoming a Christian with your peers.
FFA
Several of our FCMS FFA members competed in the Area FFA Crops, Forestry and Entomology Career Development Event on Thursday in Wayne county. They represented us well with our Crops team of Abby Donathan, Preston Boone, Aubrie White and Brooklyn Volk placing 2nd overall for the Junior contest. Jaslyn Young competed as an individual and placed 2nd as well. All of these students will move on to the state contest on December 13 in Boone County. In the forestry contest, our team of Rylee Lovins, Cooper Bolos, Aden Rogers, and Brionna Vestal finished 3rd overall, and are an alternate team for the state competition. Congratulations to all!
Congratulations
Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin welcomed a beautiful baby boy in October. Congratulations Laughlin Family!
Academic Probation
If a student earns two or more F’s on a midterm or quarterly report card, students will be placed on Academic Probation. Grades will be reviewed at the end of each midterm or quarter grading period to check the academic status of all students. Students who have earned grades which place them on academic probation, will not be permitted to participate in after-school activities, incentive field trips or other activities such as dances, extracurricular activities and other special events during or after school. Parents and students shall be notified of academic probation by email.
