Yes, it is legal for Americans to visit Cuba. There are rules to be followed and processes to follow, but if you like adventure and seeing "different" things, I encourage you to consider Havana before the government restrictions change again and/or before the conditions in Cuba further deteriorate.

One of our Young Travel agents visited Cuba in October under a Support for the Cuban People tourist visa. This requires a full itinerary of supporting local people (versus anything owned by the Cuban government). An agenda could include things such as boxing lessons, haircuts from famous Cuban barbers, historical tours in downtown historic Havana, working with a local photographer to capture street scenes, visits to paladars (small, independent restaurants), cooking classes, riding in a Vintage convertible car, visit a tobacco plantation, take an art class, and more! It's very exciting, and EXTREMELY interesting. This is a one-of-a-kind trip, and very close to the US border.

This is not a trip for someone that likes to stay connected at all times. Although the boutique hotels have generators, the government shuts down power a few times a day around town, and internet service is spotty at best.
