Academy Announcements

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

October is underway and the last bits of that summer sun are starting to cool. As the weather changes, it's always a good reminder to keep an extra sweater in the locker.

Here's a few more things happening at Academy

The Academy Ambassadors have been selected for SY24-25. Students who were chosen were announced on Friday and given a slip for the charter and our first meeting. A follow-up email will be going out to parents shortly. I was truly touched how many of our 4th and 5th graders applied this year! I wish we could have taken them all. We truly have some amazing kids here and I am so proud that so many wanted to give back to our school.
The Fun Run kicks off tomorrow. An email went out earlier today, but I am happy to announce that in just the last week alone, that dollar amount jumped from $4300 to $8000 as of right now. Please help us meet our goal of $20,000 this year. All of the funds raised goes back to the kids in the form of field trips, events, and special assemblies.
Parent Council met last week and are on a roll. There are some many great things being planned for the first half of the year. If you haven't joined one of the meetings, I strongly recommend you do and get involved, we need and appreciate volunteers at Academy!
There is still time for families to sign up for the Weymouth Food Pantry's Weekend Backpack Program for food assistance. Click here for more info (See the picture of Mrs. Valovcin with Mrs. Baldino & Mrs. Alarcon putting together some packages for families).
Tuesday is a half day of school for the students- Dismissal is promptly at 11:50AM. Please make arrangements and if there are any changes in their usual plan, be sure to write a note to the classroom teacher that morning letting us know of a change.
Wednesday is our first Walk to School Day for the new school year. For those new to Academy. There are 3 starting points where large groups walk together, pick up kids at the stops along the way and then arrive at campus as one big group. Click here to see the walking routes, we hope all who can will join us. If you would like to be a line leader, please email Mr. Higgins and let him know which route you'd like to help with.
Lastly, our K kids will be visiting a farm on Thursday!!! Their first field trip as Academy kids!!!

Fall is in full bloom!!! Get out there and enjoy it....before we know it, the dark days of winter will be here!

Attendance and Being on Time

Reminder: We know kids will get sick and miss school from time to time. Please be sure to call the school office and report them being out. The attendance hotline is open all morning up to 8:30AM. Call and report an absence each time they are out at 781.335.4717. Our goal is to cut down on absenteeism...because when kids are out, it's really hard for them to keep up with their peers who are in every day!
