Playing Fields at MUMS with Weybridge friends Playing Fields at MUMS with Weybridge friends

Dear Families,

We made it through the first 5 day week!! Everyone actually seemed ready for it - nary a glazed eye to be seen.

FOWE potluck: The annual potluck is coming up this Thursday, 9/18, at 6:00 pm.

FOWE will send out a sign up link soon for volunteer jobs like helping with dishes. Please bring a main dish or salad to share. FOWE will provide drinks and cookies for dessert. A serving utensil would be helpful.

We do ask that your children sit with you for the duration of the meal and when they are done, if they would like to play outside, that you or another adult heads out with them. We will talk with the children ahead of time about expectations for the evening and their responsibilities and appreciate your attention to this. It helps to make the event relaxing and pleasant for all.

It’s always been a good time for families and many of the staff to break bread together and connect. Hope to see you all there!

802 Smiles Dental Hygiene Program: This dental program is returning this Fall to offer free dental screenings and preventative care to all ACSD students. Please complete the forms below by September 22, if you would like your child to participate. We have sent paper copies of the form home with your child/ren or you can access the forms here.

Lunch help: We welcome and need lunch volunteers each week day from 11:00-12:00ish. It’s a lovely way to see many of the children and invaluable support to the meals program. If you would like to volunteer please sign up on this calendar. We need volunteers for Wednesday and Thursday next week!!! If you can sign up for days ahead, please do.

Notes:

  • I think we missed getting the word out that all volunteers need to submit an application in order to get the required background check. I approve most volunteers as supervised so the process is quite speedy.

  • Volunteers need to sign in/sign out in the front office and get a guest ID. This is required in all ACSD schools. Please be sure to return the ID when you sign out.

  • Lunch time is a planned part of the day’s instructional program, so not a time to drop by your child’s classroom. Thanks.

Bus reminders: Please note that we expect that all students in Kindergarten and 1st grade will have an adult meeting them as they get off the bus or that they will get off with an older sibling.

Arrival time: Reminder that expected time for arrival is between 7:45-7:55. The school day starts at 7:45 so it is ideal for your child to arrive as close to that time as possible so they can transition into the school day in a relaxed way.

Information packets: If you haven’t already sent in the information packet distributed the first day, please do so as soon as possible. It is particularly important for us to have health forms and emergency contacts on file.

Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301).

Have a lovely fall weekend. Christina

Students of all ages come together for a game of soccer Students of all ages come together for a game of soccer

Hello Weybridge families,

It's time for our annual Snake Mountain hike! Join Weybridge Elementary friends, families, and alums on Saturday, September 27th (rain date Sunday, September 28th) at 9:30 am for this fun tradition. There will be pastries, pups, and positive vibes. Let's hope for a clear day for that well-earned panorama of our beautiful Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks!

Kelsey Eberly (Conrad's mom) will "lead" the hike, but everyone can go at their own pace and we'll meet up at the top. It's about an hour's climb -- a steady uphill on a wide trail (AllTrails.com lists it as "moderate"--see hikers' reviews for more information). As always, there will be no designated chaperone, so please make sure your kids are being minded and/or that they know where they're going!

We'll meet at 9:30 in the parking lot next to the trailhead on the Addison (not the Weybridge!) side of the mountain, on Mountain Road just north of Wilmarth Road Extension, and will set off on the trail around 9:45. We recommend wearing layers and sturdy hiking shoes or athletic shoes, and bringing whatever you'll need to be comfortable walking in the woods--bug spray & sunscreen, hiking poles, and plenty of water and snacks. Binoculars are great to have at the top, too.

If the forecast looks stormy, we'll call it on Friday night and plan to meet the following day, Sept. 28th--same time, same place.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Kelsey, Alison, and Erin
