๐Ÿซ Attending School Regularly ๐Ÿซ Attending School Regularly

Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in your childโ€™s academic success. Each day of instruction builds on the previous one, and frequent absences can make it difficult for students to stay on track. We want every child to have the best opportunity to learn and grow, and being present at school each day is a critical part of that.

If your child must be absent, please remember that a written notice is required. This may be submitted either in person to the school office or by email at moreno_notes@episd.org. Without a written notice, the absence will be recorded as unexcused in accordance with district policy.

We appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child attends school regularly and arrives ready to learn. Together, we can help all of our students succeed.

Sincerely,

Angelic Lopez
Principal

๐Ÿ“˜ Parent Tips for Month Two of School Success ๐Ÿ“˜ Parent Tips for Month Two of School Success

1. Strengthen Routines

  • Keep a consistent bedtime and morning routine so your child arrives at school rested and ready to learn.
  • Set a โ€œstudy spotโ€ at home thatโ€™s quiet, well-lit, and free from distractions
2. Review & Reinforce Learning
  • Spend 10โ€“15 minutes a night reviewing what your child learned that day (sight words, math facts, vocabulary, etc.).
  • Ask them to teach you something they learnedโ€”teaching strengthens memory.

3. Stay Organized
  • Check your childโ€™s planner, folder, or backpack daily for homework, notes, or school announcements.

  • Help them build a simple to-do list for homework so they learn time management.

4. Read Every Day ๐Ÿ“–

  • Read with or to your child 20 minutes a nightโ€”no matter the grade level.

  • For older students, encourage independent reading and then have a short discussion about the book.

5. Communicate with Teachers

  • Reach out if your child is struggling or confusedโ€”donโ€™t wait until report cards.

  • Celebrate successes and let your childโ€™s teacher know whatโ€™s working well at home.

6. Build Independence

  • Encourage your child to pack their own backpack, lay out clothes, and check their homework.

  • Praise effort, not just resultsโ€”โ€œI like how hard you worked on this!โ€

7. Keep School Positive ๐ŸŽ‰

  • Ask specific questions like, โ€œWhat was your favorite part of math today?โ€ instead of โ€œHow was school?โ€

  • Celebrate small winsโ€”finishing homework, improving on a spelling test, or reading a new book.

8. Balance Academics & Fun

  • Give kids time for play, movement, and creativity after school. A healthy balance helps them stay focused academically.
