๐ซ Attending School Regularly
Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in your childโs academic success. Each day of instruction builds on the previous one, and frequent absences can make it difficult for students to stay on track. We want every child to have the best opportunity to learn and grow, and being present at school each day is a critical part of that.
If your child must be absent, please remember that a written notice is required. This may be submitted either in person to the school office or by email at moreno_notes@episd.org. Without a written notice, the absence will be recorded as unexcused in accordance with district policy.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child attends school regularly and arrives ready to learn. Together, we can help all of our students succeed.
Sincerely,
Angelic Lopez

๐ Parent Tips for Month Two of School Success
- Keep a consistent bedtime and morning routine so your child arrives at school rested and ready to learn.
- Set a โstudy spotโ at home thatโs quiet, well-lit, and free from distractions
- Spend 10โ15 minutes a night reviewing what your child learned that day (sight words, math facts, vocabulary, etc.).
Ask them to teach you something they learnedโteaching strengthens memory.
Check your childโs planner, folder, or backpack daily for homework, notes, or school announcements.
Help them build a simple to-do list for homework so they learn time management.
4. Read Every Day ๐
Read with or to your child 20 minutes a nightโno matter the grade level.
For older students, encourage independent reading and then have a short discussion about the book.
5. Communicate with Teachers
Reach out if your child is struggling or confusedโdonโt wait until report cards.
Celebrate successes and let your childโs teacher know whatโs working well at home.
6. Build Independence
Encourage your child to pack their own backpack, lay out clothes, and check their homework.
Praise effort, not just resultsโโI like how hard you worked on this!โ
7. Keep School Positive ๐
Ask specific questions like, โWhat was your favorite part of math today?โ instead of โHow was school?โ
Celebrate small winsโfinishing homework, improving on a spelling test, or reading a new book.
8. Balance Academics & Fun
Give kids time for play, movement, and creativity after school. A healthy balance helps them stay focused academically.

PBIS Celebrations
This year Moreno will not have a perfect attendance trophy at the end of the year, instead we will celebrate our students with perfect attendance monthly as part of our PBIS Celebrations. We encourage all students to be in attendance every day however we understand that situations arise such as family emergencies and illnesses. We want all students be have the opportunity to be celebrated for their daily attendance and academic achievements.
๐๐โ๏ธSchool Supplies
All our students enrolling at Moreno Elementary School will receive free school supplies to be used in the classroom. You only need to provide your child with a backpack with no wheels and headphones.
