Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!
Help us make Monroe's Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week one for the BOOKS! Each day we will be celebrating our Monroe Staff and are in need of a variety of items. The Lounge will be stocked with snacks and drinks all week long--please have those items to the school by Friday, May 1st. We will be hosting a Cinco de Mayo Taco Bar on Tuesday, May 5th. Those items need to be dropped off by 10 am on 5/5/26. PTA covers some of the costs for Teacher Appreciation Week but we do need help with goodies for the teachers, the taco bar, snacks, and serving the staff as well! Check out the sign up here if you're interested in donating items or helping deliver to staff! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B4CA5AF2CAAFE3-63755429-teacher
Thank you in advance for your help to make this year's teacher appreciation the best one yet! If you are unable to bring items, please consider supporting our staff by giving monetarily using the link below:

Super Stuemky Day (AKA Super Kid's Day): May 8th
Hello Monroe Parents,
Super Stuemky Day is just around the corner, and our kids are getting excited! Students rotate through 30 stations/games with a partner. Our goal is to make this day a special day while creating lifelong memories. To make this happen, we will need your help if you are willing and available. We currently have 30 games and would like two helpers per game. Ideally, I would like parents to arrive at 12:30 pm or 12:40 pm, so I can assign you to a game and explain how it works. If you are willing to help, please fill out the Google form. I look forward to hearing from you!!!

Champions
Looking for a way to help teachers through volunteering at Monroe? We need you, we are thankful for you and you are a key part of what makes Monroe a magical place! Monroe Champions is a volunteer based group of moms, grandmas, aunties, mom-figures, and community members committed to empowering our teachers and staff through volunteering in various ways in the classroom, library, gymnasium, office and cafeteria. This looks like leading reading groups with students, helping put up a bulletin board, mentoring, laminating, making copies, and everything in between. We want to come alongside our Monroe teachers/staff and partner with them to encourage, empower and champion them as they invest in our students!
You must complete this form and the required district forms in order to volunteer. The district forms are linked in this sign up.
Thank you again for championing with us!

District Update: Literacy and Math Benchmark System
Dear Elementary Families,
We are writing to share an important update regarding how we assess and support your child’s learning in literacy and mathematics.
Beginning this Spring and transitioning into next school year, our district is implementing a new universal screener for both literacy and math. We have utilized the FastBridge assessments for several years and will be transitioning to the STAR assessments. This change allows us to continue monitoring student growth using a state-approved assessment while also deepening our understanding of each student’s progress toward grade-level standards.
The new screeners are similar to our previous tools in that they include both computer-adaptive measures and curriculum-based assessments. Some portions are completed independently by students on the computer, while others are administered by teachers to assess specific skills. Together, the STAR assessments provide valuable insight that helps educators identify the supports and instructional strategies students need throughout the school year. This information will support literacy and math growth for all students.
Families will receive reports through STAR that offer clear information about your child’s progress and learning goals. The first family report will be shared prior to the last day of school. We are grateful for your continued partnership in your child’s educational journey. Your support plays an important role in helping every student succeed and reach their full potential.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Crowe, Principal
District Info: 2026-2027 Transfer Timeline
Intra District transfer applications for the 26-27 school year accepted beginning January 1, 2026.
Open transfer applications for the 26-27 school year accepted beginning June 1, 2026.
A student currently on transfer does not need to request a transfer for the next school year. Current transfers will be extended for next school year at the student's current site, or next school in the feeder pattern (5th to 6th or 8th to 9th), subject to continued adherence to attendance and behavior guidelines.
A family only needs to notify Student Services if they want to cancel or change their student's transfer for the next school year. 2026-2027 Transfer Change Request or https://tinyurl.com/NPSsy27TransferChange.
To request a new transfer for the 2026-2027 school year, use this link. You will need your student’s State Testing Number (STN) to complete the form. The STN is available in your parent portal or from your child’s school. Please be sure you choose the correct grade and transfer year.
An intra-district transfer request is not required for Pre-K students who reside within Norman Public Schools. These families should complete the Pre-K Placement Form. The Pre-K Placement Form will be open from February 16 - March 6, 2026.
Pre-K students who reside outside the district are required to submit an open transfer application, available on June 1, 2026. Learn more about Pre-K Enrollment here: www.normanps.org/o/nps/page/pre-k-enrollment-information
NPS Updated Event Attendee Guidelines
When attending district or school events, everyone will be expected to follow our event attendee guidelines. A reminder of these guidelines is posted at all events and available on our website.
Power Down to Power Up
Students will be expected to turn off and put away personal devices - in their backpack - such as phones, earbuds, and smartwatches during the school day, including lunch and passing periods.
Exceptions are in place for emergencies, documented medical needs, and approved assistive technology
If you need to reach your child during the school day, there are several options. You can call the school office, and staff will make sure your child gets the message.
We encourage you to talk with your student about the importance of being present and limiting distractions. Your support at home makes a big difference in helping us create a learning environment where students can thrive.
To learn more, including answers to frequently asked questions, visit www.normanps.org/page/power-down-to-power-up.
Thank you for partnering with us!
