Thunder Token and Thunder Bolt October Recognitions
Congratulations to our students who were recognized in this month's Thunder Token Prize Drawing
These students were recognized for demonstrating our Licton Springs values of being Safe, Kind, and Responsible throughout the school day:
Dara, Gabriel, Jeremy, Cillian S, Nicole, Mavis, Arianna, Charlotte, Ian, Astra, Scarlett, Charlie, Lumen and Archer! ๐
We're also excited to celebrate classes that have earned Thunder Bolt class rewards! Every class earned TWO celebrations in October for their positive choices and teamwork:
๐ Keith's class has twice earned Choice Time
๐ Erik's class earned a Pajama Party and Choice Time
๐ Taylor's class earned a Spooky Party and LEGO time
๐ The Middle School earned a Pizza Party and a recess
Way to go, everyone!!
A special thank you to all of our students for working together to create a positive, supportive, and respectful school community. Every Thunder Token and Thunder Bolt represents a choice to make our school a better place, and we are proud of the effort our students show each day.
Keep up the great work, Thunderbirds! ๐

Dรญa de Muertos Ofrenda
Licton Springs K-8 is continuing our tradition of celebrating Dรญa de Muertos (Day of the Dead) with an ofrenda, a special place for remembering and honoring loved ones who have passed away. Our ofrenda, decorated with sculptures created by students in Art class, is on display in the cafeteria through Friday, November 6.
As a school with a Native American focus, learning about the traditions, cultures, and celebrations of Indigenous peoples and communities is an important part of our educational program. Exploring celebrations such as Dรญa de Muertos helps students deepen their understanding of the many ways people honor ancestors, family, and community across cultures.
Students and families are invited to contribute photographs or other mementos of deceased loved ones to the ofrenda. Please be sure to include your name on any items so they can be returned to you after the display. Adult visitors wishing to view the ofrenda during school hours are welcome to do so and should sign in at the main office upon arrival.
We hope you'll join us in celebrating this meaningful tradition of remembrance, reflection, and honoring those who came before us. ๐ผ๐ฏ๏ธ๐
4th & 5th Grade Field Trip to See BIRDY
On November 20, our 4th and 5th grade students will travel to the Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington to attend a special performance of BIRDY by Hung Dance, an internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company from Taiwan.
Choreographed by founder and artistic director Lai Hung-Chung, BIRDY is a visually stunning work performed by eight dancers. The performance combines contemporary dance with elements of Chinese opera, Tai Chi, and mythology to tell a powerful story through movement and imagination.
Using striking props such as rattan poles and flowing pheasant feathers, the dancers explore themes of freedom, resilience, self-expression, and navigating societal expectations. Through creative storytelling and dynamic choreography, BIRDY encourages audiences to reflect on what it means to find balance, overcome challenges, and move forward with strength and purpose.
We are excited for our students to experience this unique artistic performance and engage with a different cultural perspective through the performing arts. Opportunities like this help broaden studentsโ understanding of the world while fostering creativity, curiosity, and appreciation for diverse forms of expression.
Keep an eye on backpacks for the permission slip: coming home soon!

Idle-Free School Zone ๐๐
Hey Licton Springs community!
Let's work together to keep our school neighborhood idle free. When you're waiting during drop-off or pick-up, please turn off your engine. It's a simple action that helps protect student health, saves fuel, and reduces pollution.
Did you know?
- Turning off your engine for more than 10 seconds uses less fuel than letting it idle.
- Unnecessary vehicle idling wastes millions of gallons of fuel every day across the United States.
By choosing to turn off your engine while you wait, you're helping create cleaner air for our students, staff, and neighbors while doing your part for the environment.
Thank you for helping make Licton Springs a healthier, greener place for everyone! ๐ฟ
Safe. Kind. Responsible. Together, we can make a difference. ๐
