Principal's Message
Dear Sycamore Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year! We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits as we usher in 2025. The start of a new year brings with it a sense of hope, renewal, and exciting possibilities. As we embark on the second semester of the academic year, we extend our warmest wishes to you and your family.
We are thrilled to welcome our students back to school for another enriching and engaging semester of learning. The break provided a well-deserved opportunity for rest and rejuvenation, and we trust that everyone is ready to dive back into the world of learning with enthusiasm.
This semester promises to be filled with new challenges, discoveries, and accomplishments. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to creating a positive and nurturing learning environment where each student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We encourage open communication between parents, teachers, and students to ensure a collaborative and supportive educational experience.
Throughout the upcoming months, we will continue to focus on fostering a love for learning, promoting creativity, and instilling a sense of responsibility in our students. We believe that education is a partnership, and your involvement and support are crucial elements in the success of our students.
I want to take a moment to highlight how important our school community is to me. We have dedicated parents, teachers, and staff, who show up each day in support of our students. In my conversations with parents, I hear about how thankful they are to have teachers who care about their child. As an administration, we are working hard to create memorable elementary school experiences for our students, while teaching them life lessons of respect, responsibility, and to be ready.
When people talk about Sycamore, we want the conversation to be one of pride. This starts with each stakeholder. Our school is filled with amazing staff, kind and thoughtful students, and supportive parents. As you engage with your own family, friends, and community members, we hope that you will share the positive experiences you or your child has had at our school.
We look forward to working together to make this semester a memorable and successful experience for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our dedicated staff.
Thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. Wishing you and your family a fantastic start to the new year!
Your proud principal,
Dr. Kelly Scarborough

Has your child come home talking about your Longhorn Tickets? We hope they have! Sycamore Elementary is a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) School. Through this program, students are directly taught the expected behaviors for all areas of our school using our three school rules: Be Ready, Respectful, and Responsible. Teachers focus on teaching these expectations and other social emotional skills during our daily morning Socal Emotional Learning (SEL) time. Students are then rewarded for displaying positive behaviors in our school building with our Longhorn tickets. They can use these tickets to "purchase" items from our PBIS store. Interested in supporting items for our PBIS Store? Click here! Students are also recognized monthly for showing our Character Word of the Month and this year we will be adding a Principal Pal of the week for one student who is displaying positive behavior and leadership. It is our hope that through these programs we continue to create and maintain a positive and welcoming culture for all Sycamore students!
