The Puma Pounce

OCTOBER 2026

The PumaPounceOCTOBER 2026

Hello October, Fall, and Milwaukie El Puente families!

We have more events coming up in the next couple of months, but we're here to rally lots of excitement for the 2026 Jog-A-Thon on October 16th, High School Homecoming Parade, and some opportunities to get involved with our school's Green Team. Also, if you're interested in sporting your Puma pride, be on the lookout for some Milwaukie El Puente merchandise for purchase in the very near future. But first, thank you to all who were able to join us at our first PTO community meeting of the 2026/2027 school year. It was a wonderful time to connect with new and familiar faces and share valuable feedback. We are also excited to share that our first Dining for Dinero event of the school year was a huge success, raising just over $400 for our school, and a great time for families to meet, play, and eat lots of pizza! Thank you to Pietro's Pizza and all who came out to support Milwaukie El Puente PTO. What a great way to kick off the year!

As always, thank you for your support and dedication to our school and community!

Warmly,

Milwaukie El Puente PTO

Jog-a-Thon is Here!

Jogathon is one of our biggest events of the year. We love it! The students love it!

By now, you should have received your Jog-a-Thon packet with information about the Jog-a-Thon, prizes, collecting donations, and volunteer sign-ups. If you didn't get your packet or you need another one, please reach out to your student's teacher or the school office. You can also find the documents on the Jog-a-Thon page of our website.

Collecting Donations

Students have until Friday, October 16th, to collect and turn in their donations. Donations can be made online HERE or by cash or check. Please make out checks to Milwaukie El Puente PTO. Remember, the grade that is first to reach their goal of raising $2,500 will win a pizza party!

High School Homecoming Parade is Coming to Milwaukie El Puente Elementary

On Thursday, October 8th from 12:20–12:50 PM, our Milwaukie El Puente students will line up along 27th Avenue to cheer on the Milwaukie High School and Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Homecoming Parade!

MHS/MAA will be providing thunder sticks for our students to use as they cheer, and your child may even come home with a few fun goodies from the parade!

Parents and families—feel free to stop by if you’re in the area and join us in cheering on our high school students! We’d love to see you!

Join the Green Team and learn how to become a changemaker!

We are seeking volunteers to help with the annual clothing swap, join the garden committee, or share your own green idea for the school.

Contact Heather: heather@kalowsky.com for more information on how to get involved. Our school and planet thank you!

The Green Team is also excited to share an amazing opportunity to take part in a free 4 session Eco School Changemaker training:

The Eco-School Network helps Oregon parents, students, and teachers bring sustainability and climate solutions to schools. Their free Changemaker Training is fun and practical, and gives you tools to launch school projects like:

  • Creating a school garden or outdoor classroom
  • Reducing cafeteria waste
  • Organizing a walk/bike-to-school bus
  • ...or bringing your own idea to life!

No sustainability experience is needed. You’ll get practical training, ongoing support, and a community of changemakers to help along the way. You'll connect with a community of inspiring changemakers. Check out this short video to see it in action!

The free 4 session Eco-School Changemaker Training begins October 12th.
