DFP Family Update
October 18, 2026
It was another exciting week at preschool. Our students enjoyed a special visit from Walpole firefighter, Jenna Malone, who showed students some fire safety equipment and talked about the importance of fire safety. We also explored the wonders of fall by learning about leaves and the changing seasons, and participated in hands-on experiments to discover the difference between heavy and light objects. We wrapped up our week with Picture Day! As the weather gets cooler, please remember to dress your children in layers so they can stay comfortable throughout the day, especially during outdoor play.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🍂
Warmly,
Julie Martin
Conferences in November
Our fall parent and educator conferences will be held on:
Thursday, November 12 from 5:00-7:00 pm
Friday, November 13 from 12:00 -3:00 pm
Wednesday, November 18 from 5:00 -7:00 pm
This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher and related service providers to learn about your child's progress and ask questions. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.
As Temperatures Grow Cooler...
As the weather grows cooler, a gentle reminder to please label your child's clothing - sweatshirts, coats, etc. Layers are great this time of year and we want to be sure everything is returned to you! Also, sneakers are ideal footwear for the preschool.
Holiday Assistance
As the holiday season approaches, we understand that this time of year can bring additional challenges. If your family is in need of support with food, clothing, or gift items this holiday season, please reach out to me. We are here to help connect families with available resources.
All information shared will be kept strictly confidential.
Halloween at DFP
As Halloween approaches, we’ll be celebrating in a simple, preschool-friendly way! Children are welcome to wear black and orange on Friday, October 30th. We ask that costumes be left at home so we can keep our daily routines consistent and comfortable for all children. We’ll enjoy some fun seasonal fall activities while maintaining the familiar structure of our preschool day.
Thank you for helping us make the day fun, safe, and predictable for everyone!
Health and Wellness Protocols
With fall and the return to school, so comes illness. Please make note of the following:
Children who are ill with a temperature over 100, or who have diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, undiagnosed rashes, uncontrolled coughing, impetigo, or conjunctivitis should remain at home.
If your child is ill with a fever they must be "Fever Free" for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of TYLENOL, MOTRIN, or any other fever-reducing medication before they can return to school. If your child has a viral stomach illness with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, please keep them home for an additional 24 hours after symptoms have subsided. If your child has been diagnosed with an infection requiring antibiotic treatment such as Strep Throat, Conjunctivitis, Impetigo, etc. they must be treated with the antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school. In addition to Conjunctivitis, your child's eyes must be free of drainage. For Impetigo, lesions may not be oozing.
If your child is ill, you will be contacted to pick up your child at school.
If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Tina DiCicco: tdicicco@walpole.k12.ma.us
