A Note From The Nurse
This time of year, we typically see an increase in stomach flu activity. We have recently noted an uptick in cases at Hornung. Please take a moment to review the information below and follow all recommended precautions to help reduce the spread of illness. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
- Symptoms: Vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and low-grade fever.
- Reminder: Encourage frequent handwashing to prevent spread. Check household cleaners, many do NOT kill norovirus. Virus is shed for up to 10 days. Persons infected should not handle food for others for 3 days post recovery.

Just in case clothes JK-4th Grade
Parents please pack an extra set of weather appropriate clothes in your child's backpack each day. Bathroom accidents, spills, mud puddles or unexpected messes can happen, and having a spare outfit will help keep your child comfortable throughout the day. This way, we can take care of any changes at school, and you won't have to make a trip to bring them. Thank you for your support!
Reporting Absences in Parent Connect
Parent Connect has a quick and easy way to report your child's absence.
- Log into Parent Connect
- If you have more than one child, select the student who will be absent.
- Click Report Absence on the top right corner.
- Enter the date(s) of the absence.
- If your child will be gone all day, check the All Day box so it applies to both morning and afternoon. Or, if your child will only miss part of the day, enter the specific times.
- Finally select a Reason and make sure to include in the Notes why your child will be absent (illness, doctor visit, vacation etc.) If your child has been diagnosed with something specific (like COVID, strep throat, pink eye, flu, chickenpox, etc.), please mention that in Notes.
Reporting Absences on the Attendance Line
Another option for reporting an absence is to call the Hornung attendance line at 810-299-4454. When you leave a message, please include:
- Your child's name
- Their teacher's name
- The date(s) they'll be absent

If they haven't been diagnosed but do have symptoms, let us know what those symptoms are.

This Valentine’s Day… Whether you’re a fan of Broadway, classical, or even rock, this program of Andrew Lloyd Webber showstoppers and more has something for everyone. Terry Barber and Shelley Keelor breathe new life into hits from many of Broadway's most beloved shows, reacquainting you with characters from CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Aspects of Love, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Chicago, Hamilton, The Phantom of the Opera, and more!
Literally "setting the stage" for this production is a replica backdrop of the Paris Opera House (Palais Garnier) where the real Phantom of the Opera haunted over 100 years ago causing a chandelier to crash into the audience killing a woman and injuring several others. We will not be recreating that piece of history for you! Don't miss this epic performance or you may be haunted by your disappointment!
BCPA Tech Club Fundraiser
Doors to the lobby open at 6:30pm for this show. Come support concession sales that will serve as a fundraiser that supports training and scholarship opportunities for the BCPA's student theater Tech Club.
Behind every great show at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts is a team making the magic happen! The BCPA Student Tech Club is where students learn the ins and outs of stagecraft, from mastering the light board and perfectly balancing sound to managing backstage cues.
