As we welcome the month of March, we are excited for the warmer weather and the chance to get outside! The longer days and fresh air bring new energy to our students and staff as we continue working hard to support student learning.

At Pekin Elementary, we are diving deep into our WIN (What I Need) time—formerly known as Intervention time—to provide targeted support and help students grow their academic skills and assessment scores. Our goal is for every student to make a year’s growth, and we are committed to providing the instruction and support needed to make that happen.

March is a long, consistent month of learning, and we look forward to maximizing this time with engaging lessons and meaningful learning opportunities. To help prepare students for ISASP testing in April, we are thrilled to welcome motivational speaker Brandon White during the last week of March. He will be inspiring our entire K-12 student body, helping to energize and focus our students as they take on their upcoming assessments.

In addition to all of this great learning, we are excited to share that we have earned about 1,500 PBIS tickets so far! Our goal is to reach 3,500 tickets, and once we hit that target, we will celebrate with a school-wide rock, paper, scissors tournament! It will be a fun and exciting event for both students and staff to take part in, and we can’t wait to see the friendly competition! We’re hoping to reach our goal in the next few weeks, so let’s keep up the great work in earning those PBIS tickets!

Ensuring your child attends school regularly is key to their academic progress and personal development. Every day in the classroom offers valuable learning opportunities, hands-on experiences, and a chance to build essential social and problem-solving skills. Consistent attendance helps students stay on track with lessons, connect with their peers, and develop strong learning habits that set them up for success. When students are present, they are better prepared to thrive both academically and socially. We appreciate your support in making daily attendance a priority for your child’s education!
