Dear RedHawk Families

As we spring ahead with Daylight Saving Time this weekend, it can be a helpful reminder to pause and think about how we use our time. Time management and prioritization are important skills for our middle school students as their schedules and responsibilities continue to grow. While many things compete for their attention, focusing on what they can control—being present, prepared, and engaged in learning each day—makes a meaningful difference. Our students are students first, and instructional time is something we cannot get back once it’s missed. Taking advantage of the learning that happens in each class helps build both understanding and confidence. As families navigate busy schedules, it can be helpful to reflect together on what commitments matter most and how to plan ahead.

Thank you for your partnership in supporting students as they focus on what matters most: learning and growth.

With appreciation,
Francesca Favero, Wredling Principal

7th Grade Opportunity - Downtown Chicago Musical

Dear 7th Grade Families,

On Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, we have the opportunity to take 45 seventh-grade students to see the new musical, The Great Gatsby, at the Cadillac Palace in Chicago. This is an optional after-school activity. It is teacher-chaperoned.

We would love to offer interested students the opportunity to experience the musical. It is a novel that they may read in high school, and a time period that they will study next year in 8th grade. Due to the popularity of the show, seats and discounted tickets are limited. Students received a permission slip during tutorial this week with additional information and details. The permission slip is also linked here. Students should return the permission slip and payment to the LRC. [click here for the permission slip]

Outside Food Practice

Parents, please review these expectations with your child. Thank you for helping us ensure our school day runs smoothly with minimal disruption!

Parents are welcome to drop off food/beverages only for their own child

  • All parent deliveries should be brought to the main office.
  • Food and beverages may only be provided for your individual student. Ex: a pizza cannot be purchased for a group of students.
  • We WILL NOT accept or sign for delivered food/beverages for students.
If an emergency situation requires you to send something for your student, please contact the main office with details so they don't turn away the delivery driver. 331-228-3700

WMS Student Athletes... In addition to the above expectations:

  • You are encouraged to send them to school with a second lunch/snack. Their day can be long!

  • The "Snack Shack" in the Cafeteria will be open on Wednesday afternoons during the early release time for the athletes to grab a snack using their lunch account.

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!

We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!

Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.

Here’s how to pitch in:

  • Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!

  • Bring them to school all year long.

  • Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!

Let's pull together and make a difference!

CTE Presents: Disney’s DESCENDANTS THE MUSICAL

Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney’s Descendants: The Musical is a musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!

Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island… until now. When the four troublemakers are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?
