🏫 What’s Happening at School
A note from the Principal...
Dear Abraham Lincoln Families,
I hope you all have a wonderful April Break filled with time outdoors, relaxation, and special moments together as a family. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, April 27, refreshed and ready for the remainder of the school year!
~ Mrs. Ireland
Attendance Matters!
At Abraham Lincoln, we take attendance seriously because consistent school attendance is directly linked to student success. We track attendance weekly and will begin sharing our monthly progress with students and staff through a visual display in the school. I will also include these updates in each newsletter so families can stay informed.
Here is our Average Daily Attendance (ADA) so far this year:
-
September: 95%
-
October: 92%
-
November: 95%
December: 95%
January: 94%
February: 91%
March: 94%
Our goal is to maintain 95% or higher each month, and we are excited to work together to reach it!
You can help support strong attendance by scheduling appointments outside the school day whenever possible and planning family vacations during scheduled school vacation weeks. Every day of learning matters, and we appreciate your partnership in helping our students be present, engaged, and ready to learn.

đź’ˇ Helpful Tips & Resources for Families
Earth Month
As we celebrate Earth Month this April, we encourage our PreK–3 families to enjoy simple, meaningful activities that help children learn to care for our planet.
- Take a nature walk together and collect small items like leaves, rocks, or pinecones—then talk about what makes each one special.
- Plant seeds at home (flowers, herbs, or vegetables) and watch them grow while discussing what plants need to live.
- Practice a “reduce, reuse, recycle” challenge by finding creative ways to reuse everyday items like boxes or containers.
- Read a favorite Earth-themed book together and talk about ways your family can help keep our environment clean and healthy.
Smart Social
The Bangor School Department is partnering with Smart Social, an excellent resource that helps families navigate the digital world safely and confidently. Smart Social offers free tools, videos, and tips to help parents guide children in making positive choices online and using social media responsibly.
We encourage all families to explore these resources and start conversations at home about digital safety and balance. Check it out here: Smart Social

đź’– At the Heart of Abe
At the heart of Abe, we continue to focus on building a school community where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to grow. Each day, our students and staff work together to create a positive environment grounded in kindness, respect, and a love of learning.
We are proud of the ways our students show care for one another, take pride in their work, and embrace new challenges. Thank you for partnering with us and reinforcing these important values at home.
Together, we are making Abe a place where everyone belongs.
