"Windom Eagle Express: Soaring Through News and Notes!"
Welcome Back Eagles
Dear Windom Middle School Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer and are ready for another great year at Windom Area Middle School. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2, and our staff is excited to welcome students back into the building with energy, enthusiasm, and Eagle pride.
We are committed to creating a positive and supportive school environment where students can grow academically, socially, and personally. This year, we look forward to strengthening connections, celebrating accomplishments, and helping every student reach their full potential.
A few important dates to note as we begin the year:
-
September 16 – Middle School Picture Day
-
September 22–26 – Homecoming Week (a great opportunity to show Eagle spirit!)
Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education. Together, we will make this school year a successful and memorable one. I am proud to serve as your principal and look forward to seeing all the amazing things our students will accomplish in 2025–2026.
Go Eagles!
Sincerely,
Dane Nielsen
Principal, Windom Area Middle School
Cell Phones & Smartwatches at the Middle School
At Windom Area Middle School, we want every student to be fully engaged in learning, building friendships, and enjoying their school day without distractions. To help make this possible, cell phones and smartwatches are not allowed during the school day.
Students may bring these items to school, but they must remain off and stored in backpacks from the first bell until dismissal. This helps us create a learning environment that is focused, safe, and respectful for everyone.
We understand that cell phones are an important way for families to stay connected before and after school. If you ever need to reach your child during the day, please call the middle school office and we will make sure the message is delivered.
Thank you for supporting this expectation and helping us keep our classrooms distraction-free so that students can focus on what matters most—learning and growing together.

High School Principal's Message
New school year. New activities seasons. A fresh start. Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!!
As we start a new school year, we know that students and families enter this new time with a mixed bag of emotions. Maybe you are a freshman starting high school, or a sophomore thinking about getting that driver's license, or a junior taking your first college class, or a senior thinking about what the next steps beyond high school look like. No matter where you are in the journey, Windom Area High School is here to help. We are excited to offer opportunities and experiences to enrich your student life and we can't wait to add memories and be a part of your story this school year.
We have an amazing crew of returning staff ready to continue the outstanding growth we have seen in recent years. In addition, we welcome 8 new teachers along with super paraprofessionals to our 5-12 grade building. Our staff is dedicated to helping students grow and get the most out of their experience as a part of our Windom Eagle community.
We look forward to getting started and seeing all our students back on Tuesday, September 2nd. Have an exceptional 2025-2026 school year filled with #eaglepride! Go Eagles!
Kind regards,
Bryan Joyce
High School Principal
