⭐ BACK-TO-BACK A-RATED! ⭐ BACK-TO-BACK A-RATED!

Once a Warrior, always a Warrior... and once again, an A-Rated Warrior!

I am incredibly proud to share that Young Women’s STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy has earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency for the second year in a row!

Being a back-to-back A-Rated campus is something worth celebrating because an A is never the work of just one person. It represents hundreds of individual efforts coming together toward one common goal: the success of our girls.

It starts with our students, who show up, work hard, challenge themselves, and continue to raise the bar. It is made possible by our teachers, whose dedication, preparation, high expectations, and belief in our students are reflected in their classrooms every single day. Our leadership team, counselors, support staff, office staff, instructional aides, custodians, cafeteria staff, coaches, sponsors, and every member of our YWA family contribute to creating the environment where our girls can succeed.

And, of course, our families are an important part of that success. Thank you for trusting us with your daughters, supporting them at home, and partnering with us in their education.

⭐ And there's even more to celebrate...

In addition to earning an A, YWA received five TEA Distinction Designations for exceptional academic achievement:

📖 Reading/Language Arts
Our students demonstrated exceptional achievement in reading, writing, comprehension, and communication.

➗ Mathematics
Our students' performance in mathematics stood out among comparable schools across Texas.

🔬 Science
Our girls demonstrated exceptional achievement in science...especially meaningful for a school built around STEAM education!

🌎 Social Studies
Our students demonstrated strong achievement in understanding history, government, geography, and the world around them.

🎓 Postsecondary Readiness
This distinction recognizes the work we do to prepare our girls for what comes after high school...college, career, and beyond.

These distinctions are more than awards. TEA compares schools with other campuses across Texas that are similar in size, grade levels served, and student demographics. Earning a distinction means YWA stood out among comparable schools in Texas.

This is what BREAKTHROUGH looks like.

An A rating is something to celebrate. Earning it two years in a row shows that excellence at YWA isn't a moment...it's a standard.

To our students, staff, families, and entire Warrior community: this A belongs to all of you.

I could not be prouder of what our girls and our YWA team have accomplished...and I cannot wait to see how we continue to break through this year.

Keep Reading...There’s Lots Happening at YWA! 🩷🖤

The celebration doesn't stop here! We have another busy week ahead with so much happening across our campus. Keep reading this week's Breakthrough Bulletin for important updates, upcoming events, opportunities for our girls and families, and a look at what’s happening at YWA this week and in the weeks ahead.

Thank you for staying connected and being an important part of our Warrior community.

She Leads. She Creates. She Breaks Through. 🩷🖤

From YWA to NYC: Frida’s Fashion Camp Experience 🗽✨

One of the things that makes being part of the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (YWPN) so special is the incredible opportunities available to our Warriors!

This summer, YWA student Frida received a YWPN scholarship to attend BANSON NYC Fashion Camp in New York City! 🗽✨

During this week-long experience, Frida had the opportunity to explore the fashion industry beyond design and learn about the business, styling, buying, trend forecasting, and creative sides of fashion.

Her experience included:

👗 Behind-the-scenes visits to showrooms, designer studios, and retail buying offices
📈 Workshops in buying, trend forecasting, fashion styling, and professional etiquette
📸 A professional photoshoot in Central Park
🏙️ Fashion exhibits, educational shopping experiences, and hands-on learning throughout New York City

Opportunities like this give our Warriors the chance to explore careers, experience new places, build confidence, and begin imagining possibilities for their futures.

We are so proud of Frida for representing YWA El Paso and grateful to YWPN for investing in experiences that open doors for our girls. 💗

📌 Testing Tidbits 📌 Testing Tidbits

We want our families to always know what’s coming up when it comes to testing! Throughout the year, our Testing Coordinator, Ms. Brockman, will share Testing Tidbits with important dates, reminders, and information to help families stay informed and prepared.

Coming up first is our Beginning-of-Year (BOY) testing on August 25 & 26. Remember, BOY testing is simply a starting-point check-in that helps our teachers see what students already know and where they may need additional support or enrichment. It’s about growth...not a grade! 🩷

Take a look at this month’s Testing Tidbits below for everything you need to know! 👇

We love having our families involved at YWA! Through VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools), parents and family members can volunteer on campus in a variety of ways throughout the year, from helping with morning or afternoon traffic, to assisting with copies, special events, and other campus needs.

To volunteer on campus, you must first complete the EPISD VIPS application and approval process. Our Family Liaison, Ms. Sylvia Villarreal, is happy to help families with the process. She is on our campus Thursdays and Fridays and can also be reached anytime by email at sevillar@episd.org.
