Thank you to our LMMS counselors, Ms. Linda Helm and Mrs. Lindsey McFalls!

Thank you for your support of our students and staff!

The Eighth Grade Gifted Support class represented LMMS at the Philadelphia regional Future Cities at Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor. The students have spent the past 9 months preparing for this engineering event. Yes.....9 months! This year's challenge was to design a city of the future that eliminates food waste from farm to table while keeping citizens healthy and safe.

Students have to create a full scaled model of their city. They have to write an essay describing the city elements. They interview with engineers for hours, and they perform a 7 minute skit presentation for a panel of judges.

For the first time, LM made it to the final round and took sixth out of 47 teams. The team also earned two special recognitions, The Reinventing Tomorrow special award, presented by Jacob's Engineering and The Honorable Mention award for placing 4th overall in the competition.

This outcome is a “personal best” for our school. Congratulations team, and Mrs. Meyers!

We had a great Grade 8 trip to Bear Creek this year. We had beautiful weather for skiing, snow boarding, and tubing. Thank you to Mrs. Maloney for all her work preparing for our trip. A huge thank you to Mr. Mahaney, Mr. Manning, Ms. Reese, Mrs. Moss, Mrs. Wicks, Mrs. Meloscia and Mrs. Huber who came with us!

Spanish I students have just finished a chapter in which they learned about their personalities. Students enjoyed learning personality adjective vocabulary words to the tune of the songs "Roar" (Katy Perry) & "Hello" (Adele). They completed selfie assignments in which they wrote sentences about what their personalities are like and not like to go alongside pictures of themselves.

They are currently finishing mini projects to describe the personalities of other people in various creative formats, such as Wanted Posters, sports cards, & magazine covers. Throughout this chapter, Spanish I students have been able to make their sentences more complex with the incorporation of more details. They have also learned about the foundational concept of gender agreement in the Spanish language.
