February 2025 Newsletter
Second semester, winter weather & lots of activities!
Hello Families,
Welcome to the February edition of the Kellogg School District Family Newsletter! We kicked off the second semester on January 27th and we're excited for the learning and growth that lies ahead for our students. With the colder weather upon us, please ensure your children are dressed appropriately for the winter months, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots, so they can comfortably enjoy their time at school and on the playground.
This semester is also buzzing with activity on the sports fields and courts! We're thrilled to cheer on our middle school basketball teams, high school basketball teams, and high school wrestlers as they compete. Be sure to check the school calendar for game schedules and come out to show your support! GO WILDCATS!
In this newsletter, we've also included an important update to our district's cell phone policy. We encourage you to take a few minutes to read through the changes and discuss them with your children. Your cooperation in ensuring a focused and positive learning environment is greatly appreciated.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who participated in our recent Family Feedback Survey. Your invaluable input is essential as we plan for the future of our district and work to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. We appreciate your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a successful and engaging second semester with you all!
💘 Calming Activity At KMS 💘
Kellogg Middle School welcomed Silver Valley Cares members to facilitate a sensory calm bottle activity with approximately 40 students who signed up at KMS. This was a great activity that the students enjoyed! Thank you SVC for your time and donations!

📱Cell Phone Reminder📱
The Kellogg School District Board of Trustees approved the implementation of a new policy to promote student health and safety, improve academic focus, and prevent cyberbullying. This policy comes from the "Phone Free Learning Act", an Executive Order issued by Idaho Governor Little on October 31, 2024.
This policy requires students in grades K-8 to keep their personal electronic devices (phones, tablets, smartwatches, etc.) off and stored in their lockers, backpacks, or designated classroom storage areas during the school day. Students in grades 9-12 will be required to keep their devices off and stored during instructional time, including morning break & passing periods. High school students are allowed to use PCD's before school and during lunch break.
We understand the importance of technology in today’s world, but we believe this policy creates a more focused and positive learning environment for all students. The policy does allow for exceptions for students with special needs and emergencies.
Thank you for your support!
