Welcome Back!LPDC Update1st Quarter Newsletter

LPDC is Back! We have a new system in place and ready to share the bells and whistles with everyone. In addition to the new tracking platform, LPDC will be sending out a quarterly Smore with information to support staff with tracking and logging their professional learning and licensure renewal.

The new system is K12 PDTracker – The link for the site is on the Avon Lake City Schools webpage under the Staff tab. All staff will log in with the single sign on option with Google on the bottom of the website.

Staff that did not attend training before the school year should click HERE to see the Google Slide presented to staff at that training. LPDC Committee members will be working with staff that need support as we transition to the new system.

Teaching Licensure Renewal Information Teaching Licensure Renewal Information

If your teaching license expires on June 30, 2027, this next part is for YOU!

1. Complete at least 180 contact hours and have that recorded and approved within your LPDC account.

2. November 1st or after, apply for your next teaching license through the state of Ohio. Link provided HERE.

3. Write a new IPDP after your new license has been approved and linked to your LPDC account.

Need a New IPDP? Need a New IPDP?

During this transition period from our old system to K12 PDTracker, LPDC members will patiently work through challenges with staff and have understanding. Once all the kinks are worked out, all staff will be required to have a current and approved IPDP in place before professional learning requests will be approved.

All staff should have everything updated and correctly working by the first LPDC meeting on September 23rd. At that time, everyone must have an updated or new and approved IPDP on file.

Follow the steps within the linked presentation on how to write an IPDP. Also attached below is a sheet with tips and wording to support goal writing.

What to do with your tracked PD from last Winter, Spring, and Summer? What to do with your tracked PD from last Winter, Spring, and Summer?

Professional learning tracked by indiviual staff members can be entered into K12 PDTracker for the time we did not have an actively working LPDC system.

District Early Release Days and Professional Learning Days

If you need to add all of last school years district sponsored PD, it would be for a total of 17 contact hours. Each Early Release day is 2.5 hours and PD Day is 3.5 contact hours.

Self Monitored/Tracked Professional Development from Last Year

If you need to add PD you tracked yourself, enter that activity as 1 new activity titled Self Tracked PD and attached all of the required documentation for the requested hours. If you used the tracker sheet shared last year, that will suffice as the documentation, unless you are requesting graduate credit. Graduate credit requires a transcript and those classes should be entered as separate activities. If you have questions, please contact your building LPDC member for support.

Ohio Course Requirement Ohio Course Requirement

Ohio requires 30 contact hours for 1 credit hour. If you are completing a graduate course and the cooperating school requires less than 30 contact hours for 1 credit, that specific course may count for less than 1 full credit.

Salary Advancement Salary Advancement

Salary Advancement requests utilize a Google Form. Use this FORM to request a course for approval. A separate submission is required for each course requested. Also, check the Unapproved List of Organizations prior to signing up for graduate credit, it has useful information for staff.
