The Journey Begins: The 2022-2023 School Year

Each and every school year is its own unique journey, and our journeys the last many school years have taken some unexpected detours and required us to reassess our destinations. As we travel through this 2022-2023 school year, we look forward to shared explorations and to collaborative guidance. And, we want to celebrate all the paths that students will travel in the year ahead. Join us, if you can, on Sept. 27 to map out some important aspects of this year's journey.

Emotional Intensity in Gifted Students

Helping students manage their intense emotions is one of the most difficult aspects of educating gifted children. Through independent exploration of the Christine Fonseca book Emotional Intensity in Gifted Students: Helping Kids Cope With Explosive Feelings, teachers will better understand the intense emotions many of their students feel, and will be better equipped to help them understand, navigate, and control these emotions.

GT Session Spotlight: Gifted and Talented Extending and Enriching Gifted Learning (6 hours)

Differentiation is a topic we’ve been hearing about for over a decade. But many educators don’t really agree with what it means. When it comes to how to best support and serve our identified gifted students, many teachers are at a loss for what that should look like in the classroom. In this session, we’ll explore ways to compact curriculum, extend learning, and enrich the students who have proven mastery in your class. Leave with concrete, real-world strategies to turn around for your classroom to offer your students continuous challenge and growth.
