Welcome to Choir!

Mrs. Hounshell and Mr. Sellers want to welcome you to the 22-23 choir program! We have LOTS of wonderful things planned for this year.


This week, in addition to singing, we focused on procedures, rules/guidelines, and created social contracts with each class period. We believe this is the best way to set students up for success. Next week, we will go over the choir handbook (link to the handbook is below). We encourage parents/guardians to go over the handbook with their student, too.

Meet Mrs. Hounshell

This is Mrs. Hounshell's 19th year in education...all at Hamilton Middle School! She has a BME from Loyola University (New Orleans) and a MM from LSU. She is looking forward to another great year at Hamilton!

Meet Mr. Sellers

This is Mr. Sellers FIRST year of teaching! He has his BME from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is also a product of CFISD, graduating from Cypress Ranch HS in 2018. Mr. Sellers is looking forward to an exciting year!

This year's choir shirt!

Choir shirts are included in your student's choir fees. These fees will need to be paid through School Cash (link below). Once the shirts come in, we will pass them out to the students.

  • Friday, Sept. 9- Signed Parent Handbook Acknowledgment Due, Medical forms turned in, Fees paid online (required)
  • Monday, Oct. 3 - 6th Grade Choir Social (optional)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 5 - Fall Concert (required)
  • Tuesday, Oct. 11 - uniform fitting during choir period (7th and 8th graders only), Perform at Cy Creek concert (required for Tenor/Bass & Varsity)
  • Fri., Nov 11 & Sat., Nov. 12 - Solo & Ensemble (required for 7th/8th graders)
  • Fri., Dec. 2 - 6th Grade Caroling (optional)
  • Tues., Dec. 6 - Winter concert (required)
  • Wed., Dec. 7 - Picture Day (choir yearbook pictures!)
  • Fri., Dec. 9 - 7th/8th grade IT'Z social (optional)

Choir Window Decal Order Form (optional - due Sept. 9)
Want to show off what your student is doing at Hamilton? Order a choir window decal! This form is due by Friday, Sept. 9. You can pay through School Cash.

Cell Phone Policy

There is no reason for your student to have their cell phone out in choir. If you need to reach them during their choir period, please email Mrs. Hounshell (Lauren.Hounshell@cfisd.net) or Mr. Sellers (Joshua.Sellers@cfisd.net) and we will communicate with them. Cell phones should remain in student's backpacks on the backpack shelves OR in the "cell phone hotel."
