Our students embarked on a mesmerizing journey as they witnessed the solar eclipse firsthand! With safety as our top priority, the school district provided special glasses for each student, ensuring a memorable and secure experience.

Through awe-filled eyes, our young explorers marveled at the celestial spectacle, gaining a deeper understanding of our universe's wonders. This shared moment of wonder will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on our students, sparking curiosity and inspiring future explorations.

A special thank you to the PTO for organizing this for our school.

It's all about the sun...

busy! We worked on subtraction in math for kindergarten and 1st grade this week. Last week, we finished our science unit on force and motion! This week we started our author study of Mo Willems and his Elephant and Piggy books. Next week, we will be continuing the author study and adding in his Pigeon books! This week, we also had the solar eclipse on Monday. Students learned about the solar eclipse and make a craft to show what they learned.

Flap Books

On Monday, 2nd grade worked hard learning all about the eclipse. They listened to a story about the eclipse and learned some important facts. Then, they created their own eclipse flap books and got to go outside just in time to view it. Totality cool, am I right?!

The Sun was Delicious!

Modelling the impending eclipse on Monday was great, but even better was eating our Science work afterward!

Tricks and Treats

This week in library Kindergarten and First Grade began an author study of Mo Willems. They read different Piggie and Gerald books and learned to retell stories using puppets. Second grade explored the question "Do people everywhere tell the same stories?". They read trickster tales from all over the world and began researching a country. Next time I am here they will use their research to write their own trickster tale. Third and Fourth Grade began a research project on a topic of their choice. They learned about evaluating sources and differentiating between primary and secondary sources. Next time, they will use their research to create Google Quizzes.

Coming Soon...

Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it allows friends and family to encourage your child to read even more.

Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday, April 29, 2024.

About one week before our Read-A-Thon starts we will send home instructions on activating your reader's page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on here and following the simple instructions.

We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read, and helps develop stronger reading skills.

To top it all off, the money we raise will help to bring the Kona Ice Truck to FES for Field Day. A way to cool off after a hot day of playing games and celebrating a great school year.

We hope EVERYONE participates.

Thanks so much,

Your FES Community
