Superintendent & Principal’s Message
Dear Parents/Guardians and Families:
Time is flying by! As we wrap up March and head into the final quarter of the school year, we want to take a moment to celebrate our students’ hard work and dedication. With quarter three ending on Tuesday, 3/31, and quarter four beginning on Wednesday, 4/1, we are so proud of all they’ve accomplished.
From showcasing their talents in the Talent Show to competing in the SkillsUSA district competition, from starting spring athletics to navigating grade 9 shop placements and completing the ELA MCAS, our students have been engaged and determined. Their efforts and focus truly make a difference, and we encourage them to continue giving their best as we approach the finish line.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students thrive. Let’s make this last quarter a strong and successful one together!

Mr. Jackson's Non Evaluative Learning Walks - 3/21 in the MATH Department
On Friday, March 21, I had the opportunity to visit our Math classrooms as part of another round of learning walks. I was joined by Ryan Brown, Assistant Principal for Math & Science, as we observed the exciting and challenging learning experiences taking place across our school.
Throughout our visit, we saw students actively solving problems, thinking critically, and demonstrating perseverance in their learning. Some key highlights included:
-
Engaging lessons on topics such as depreciation rates, exponential growth and decay, synthetic division, probability, and transformations.
-
Turn-and-talk strategies, encouraging students to explain their thinking and learn from one another.
-
Teachers using thoughtful questions and real-time feedback to support student understanding.
-
Strong co-teaching models, where teachers worked together to engage and support all students.
-
Use of visuals and technology, making complex concepts easier to grasp.
-
Well-structured lessons with clear learning goals, so students knew what they were working toward.
-
Encouragement of a growth mindset, where students were supported in making mistakes and learning from them.
I also want to recognize Special Education instructor Michael Walters for his dedication and leadership in ensuring a seamless learning experience for students when his co-teacher was out. His commitment to supporting students and keeping the class on track is a great example of the strong learning community we have at GLTS.
It was inspiring to see our students actively engaged, asking thoughtful questions, and working through challenges with persistence and confidence. The skills they are building in our Math classrooms—problem-solving, critical thinking, and resilience—will benefit them in their academic journey and beyond.
A sincere thank you to our Math teachers for their dedication to making learning meaningful and engaging. I look forward to continuing to celebrate the hard work of our students and teachers in the months ahead!

SKILLSUSA DISTRICT COMPETITION
Please see the graphic from Audra Durkin and Mike Ouellette on the students that qualified for the state competition. Congrats to our GLTS Students!
The State Leadership & Skills Conference will take place Thursday, May 1 to Saturday, May 3 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in West Marlborough, MA.
The Massachusetts SkillsUSA Senior Adventures in Leadership (SAiL) Conference was held on March 20th at Gillette Stadium, providing graduating seniors with valuable tools to navigate the transition from Career and Technical Education (CTE) to college and careers.
Greater Lawrence SkillsUSA advisors Audra Durkin and Mike Ouellette brought nine senior students to the conference, which focused on bridging the skills gap in today’s workforce by integrating workplace skills with CTE and academic standards.
