Winter Formal Update
Winter formal has been rescheduled and will now take place on Friday, February 13th. The dance will be from 8:45-11:45 pm in the cafeteria. Guest forms are required for all non-WHS students.
Communication Between School and Home
It’s important for parents/guardians to contact the school when their child is absent because it helps ensure the child’s safety and allows the school to accurately track attendance. Prompt communication lets teachers know whether missed work should be supported and helps the school identify patterns that may affect a student’s learning or well-being. Strong communication between home and school builds trust, keeps everyone informed, and creates a supportive partnership that helps students stay engaged, accountable, and successful.
Students with unexcused absences may be subject to disciplinary action, including after-school detention. Continued unexcused absences may result in the student being considered truant and reported to the appropriate authorities, in accordance with district policy. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school within two days of an absence to ensure it is properly excused. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
Winter Driving Tips
Here are some key safety tips for driving on slippery roads (rain, snow, or ice):
-
Slow down — speed is the biggest risk on slippery surfaces
-
Increase following distance — give yourself plenty of time to stop
-
Brake gently and early — sudden braking can cause skidding
-
Avoid sharp turns — steer smoothly and gradually
-
Accelerate slowly — especially from a stop
-
Keep headlights on — helps you see and be seen
-
Watch for black ice — especially on bridges, overpasses, and shaded areas
-
Make sure tires are in good condition — proper tread matters a lot
When in doubt, take it slow and stay alert. Better late than sliding. Stay safe!

Course registration for the 2026-2027 school year will begin in the final weeks of February. Parents should contact their student's counselor if they would like to discuss their student's schedule for next year.
For seniors: Local scholarships are now available on the students' "Class of 2026" Google Classroom. Contact Ms. Moffett if you have any questions!
POA students, make sure you are making daily progress and meeting your goals. Reminder, you need to have 50% of the course completed by the end of the marking period, which is March 20, 2026.
