Serve on the CCA Board: Nominations Now Open
The CCA Board of Directors Vacancy Committee is now accepting nominations for three Board positions opening in July 2026. Each is a full three-year term, running through June 2029. The parents and guardians who fill these seats will help shape the direction of our school for the next three years.
If you have ever wondered whether Board service might be for you, this is the moment to consider it. We are looking for parents who care about CCA and are willing to learn the work, not finished experts. Strong schools depend on engaged families, and the Board is one of the most direct ways to contribute to the community your children are part of every day.
How to Apply
Complete the Nomination Form by 5:00pm on Friday, May 8. The form walks through eligibility requirements and asks a few questions about your background, interests, and what you would hope to contribute.
Want to Learn More First?
If you would like more context before applying, the Board FAQ answers the questions we hear most often, including time commitment, committee structure, and what new members can expect in their first year.
For anything not covered there, please email Samuel Jay, the Vacancy Committee Chair, at sjay@cherrycreekacademy.org.
Timeline
Friday, May 8, 5:00pm: Nominations close.
Tuesday, May 12: All candidates must attend the Board meeting, in person or virtual, to be eligible.
May 12-May 22: Candidate one-on-one interviews with a CCA Board member and candidate interview with Vacancy Committee
Monday, June 16: Board votes on final candidates at the regular Board meeting.
July 2026: New Board members begin their three-year terms.
Thank you for considering this opportunity, and for the many ways our families already give to CCA. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
The CCA Board Vacancy Committee
CCA Connections
This Month's Topic: Preventing Summer Slide
Join us this Thursday, May 7 at 8:15am for our final CCA Connections morning of the year as we dive into the "Summer Slide"—the common loss of academic momentum over the break—and provide tools to keep your student’s skills sharp. Our goal is to equip you with practical strategies to balance summer fun with academic retention, ensuring every CCA student returns in August feeling confident and prepared.
Keep in mind, this is your time to connect. You are always welcome to ask questions or share thoughts on any topic, regardless of the monthly theme.
Spring Art and Music Festival
Thursday, May 14
You're invited to an inspiring evening at the CCA Spring Art and Music Festival! The gym will come alive with art and music on Thursday, May 14th, 2026. This Student Information document contains all the details you need for this exciting event. All of our music students will be participating to share their musical gifts with you! Every CCA student, from both fall and spring semesters of Art, will have at least one piece of art on display.
Please note, the festival is part of our music program. Middle school students who are unable to attend must complete an alternate assignment:
Middle School Music Program Attendance Policy.
We can't wait to celebrate with you on Thursday, May 14th, 2026!
Musically,
Mrs. Glosup and Mrs MacFarland
Volunteer Opportunities!
Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. MacFarland can use your help hanging the art for the Art and Music Festival. We will begin hanging art on Monday, May 11th, during the school day. We will continue on Tuesday, May 12th, during the school day as we prepare for the event on May 14th.
We can also use help during the school day on Monday, May 18th, to take down and sort the artwork to return to our students.
Please email: jpeterson@cherrycreekacademy.org or mmacfarland@cherrycreekacademy.org if you have time to contribute to the success of our Spring Art & Music Festival.
Thank you!
Mrs MacFarland is looking for 2-3 parents willing to come from 3:00-4:00 Wednesday (as early as 2:45), May 13th to help set up the backdrop (pipe and drape) for the Spring music concert.
Please sign up on Track It Foward.
Colorado Asthma-Friendly Schools
🏆 Going for Gold: CCA Named a Colorado Asthma-Friendly School!
We are excited to share that Cherry Creek Academy has been recognized as a Colorado Asthma-Friendly School at the Gold level by the University of Colorado!
What does this mean for your child?
This recognition demonstrates our commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment for students with asthma. Our school has implemented comprehensive asthma management practices that:
Ensure students have quick access to emergency medications
Provide staff training on asthma recognition and response
Support students in participating fully in physical education and activities
Coordinate care between school, families, and healthcare providers
Why it matters:
Asthma affects approximately 70,000 school-age children in Colorado and is one of the leading causes of chronic disease-related school absences. By implementing evidence-based asthma-friendly practices, we're working to:
Improve student attendance
Enhance academic achievement
Reduce emergency room visits
Support long-term health outcomes for students with asthma
Thank you to our school community:
This achievement reflects the collaborative efforts of our school nurse Alex Hare, staff, families, and community partners. Together, we're creating an environment where every student can thrive.
If you have questions about asthma management at school or would like to learn more about our asthma-friendly practices, please contact our school nurse, Alex at ahare@cherrycreekacademy.org.
CCA Field and Playground Updates
Major Turf & Recess Upgrades This Summer!
We are thrilled to announce that a full renovation of our field and recess areas is scheduled for completion this summer! This project will transform our outdoor space into a modern, safe, and interactive environment for all students in grades K-8. We want to extend a huge thank you to our Administrative Team and the School Board for their vision and dedication in making this project a reality for our community.
What’s changing?
Cleaner Play: We are saying goodbye to woodchips and "black rubber pellets" forever.
Safety First: The entire area will feature high-grade turf backed by a high-performance safety pad that exceeds industry requirements.
Pro-Level Field: The new turf will include permanent lines and markings tailored specifically for all CCA sports.
Efficiency: This upgrade significantly reduces maintenance costs and labor hours.
Board of Directors
Help Us Learn More About Your Family’s Traditions!
Our community is made up of a beautiful tapestry of backgrounds and experiences. To help our staff better understand the significant dates and traditions that matter to our students, the Culture and Climate Committee has put together a brief survey.
Our goal is simple: Awareness. We want to be mindful of the celebrations that are important to you so we can continue to build an inclusive and informed environment for every Eagle.
Thank you for helping us grow as a community!
