FOREIGN LANGUAGE SEAL CLASS OF 2027
WORLD LANGUAGE DIPLOMA SEAL INFORMATION
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
Welcome to World Language Level III! We are excited to begin a new school year filled with opportunities for language learning, cultural exploration, and global engagement.
As a student enrolled in a World Language Level III course, you will participate in the International Skills Diploma Seal (ISDS) Capstone Project. This project is a required component of the course and will count as three (3) major grades during the school year.
The Georgia International Skills Diploma Seal recognizes high school graduates who demonstrate academic achievement, global competence, and active engagement in international and cross-cultural experiences. One of the goals of the Capstone Project is to help students complete the requirements needed to earn this prestigious diploma seal.
Two of the ISDS requirements must be completed no later than March 15, 2027:
1. Participation in at least four (4) extracurricular activities, school clubs, or school organizations.
2. Completion of twenty (20) hours of community service with an international, multicultural, or cross-cultural focus.
We are sending this notification before classes begin to provide students and families with ample time to plan ahead. Many school clubs begin recruiting members early in the school year, and community service opportunities are often available throughout the fall and spring semesters. Planning early will help students successfully complete these requirements by the March 15, 2027 deadline.
Suggested School Clubs and Organizations
Students may fulfill the extracurricular participation requirement by joining and actively participating in school-sponsored organizations such as:
β HOSA
β HOPE
β Student Government Association (SGA)
β Key Club
β Film and Makers Club
β Drama Club
β National Honor Society
β Other approved school-sponsored clubs and organizations
Suggested Community Service Activities
Examples of community service with an international or multicultural focus include:
β Tutoring English Learners (ESOL students)
β Tutoring students enrolled in World Language courses
β Volunteering at multicultural or international festivals
β Assisting with bilingual family engagement events
β Providing translation or interpretation services under appropriate supervision
β Volunteering with organizations that serve immigrant or refugee families
β Participating in international relief or humanitarian projects
β Organizing donation drives that support international communities
β Volunteering at cultural celebrations or heritage events
β Assisting with school International Night or other multicultural activities
Additional qualifying service opportunities may be approved by your World Language teacher.
Students are responsible for maintaining documentation of their club participation and community service hours. The required 20 community service hours may be accumulated at any time during high school, from 9th through 12th grade. Therefore, your student may have already completed some or all of these hours in previous school years. Students should keep accurate records of all qualifying service activities. Additional information regarding documentation requirements and the International Skills Diploma Seal (ISDS) Capstone Project will be provided during the course.
We encourage every student to take advantage of these opportunities to develop leadership skills, serve the community, and expand their global awareness while working toward earning the Georgia International Skills Diploma Seal.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your World Language teacher. Please fill the form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScYNLee1hOkbVvlrFVGn1fb5jmhKOM34Ssd_bbRISdWnEC1QQ/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=101872228096803401838
Thank you for your support as we work together to help our students become globally competent citizens.
Sincerely,
World Languages Department
