A Note from Your Parent Council President โ๐ป
Hi STCA families!
My name is Chella Ross and Iโm excited to be serving as the STCA Parent Council President this year.
I put my name forward because I truly believe we have an amazing school, and I wanted to be part of supporting our administration and teachers. Parent Council is a great way for parents to stay connected, hear what is happening at the school, and help support the students and staff.
One of the things I love most about our meetings is that they are short, positive and informative. Our meetings are often only 30 minutes, and they are a great opportunity to hear directly from the school, ask questions, share ideas, and learn about ways we can support our school community. There is no expectation that you take on a big role or a lot of work - simply coming and being informed is valuable!
Whether you have lots of ideas to share or simply want to know a little more about what is happening at STCA, we would love to see you at a Parent Council meeting. There are only four meetings left this School year-November 24, January 26, March 23 and May 25. Your voice and involvement matter, and every parent is welcome.
Iโm looking forward to a great year and to getting to know more of our STCA families!
Warmly,
Chella Ross

Parking Access & Driving Protocols
Here is some transportation-related information for everyone to keep in mind:
- The south lane closest to the school is for BUSES ONLY ๐
- At the front of the school, the north lane is for student drop off and visitor parking.
- The east parking lot is for students.
- The west parking lot is for staff.
- DO NOT cut through the alleyways in the residential areas around the school. Alleys are narrow and full of blind spots. Between neighbors backing out of their garages and pets or kids darting out from behind fences, there is zero room for error.
Remember: safety, respectfulness, and adhering to the rules of the road are important to us here at STCA, so please be sure to SLOW DOWN on 65th street and 26th Avenue!
Thank you for your cooperation with this ๐
Yearly Forms
Please take a few minutes to complete your child's demographic forms, medical forms, and all yearly consents (FOIP, tech use, field trips) on PowerSchool.
It is important that this information be kept up-to-date every year, especially if there is a change in medical status, parent/guardian/emergency contact information, and/or address.
If you need assistance with using PowerSchool - including completing and submitting yearly consent and demographic forms online - please visit the main EICS website for instructions and helpful video tutorials.
Visiting STCA
To ensure a safe environment for all, we require that all parents/guardians and guests sign in at the school office upon arrival.
Perimeter doors will be locked during school hours, and the only access will be via the main front door (please note that the bell for the door is located on the left wall, just before the accessibility buttons).
This helps us maintain an organized environment, keep track of who is on campus, and ensures we can assist you promptly.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our school community.
Technology Requirements
STCA is a 1:1 technology school.
This means ALL students should bring their devices to class with the following criteria:
- 6 hours of battery life
- Internet access (Chrome browser preferred)
- Google apps for education downloaded
- Minimum screen size of 7 inches and physical keyboard
Thank you for supporting their learning by reminding your child to charge and bring their technology daily.
Cellphone/PCD Use
Just a reminder: Ministerial Order #14/24 is still in effect.
Please ensure that cellphones/PCDs remain in student lockers during class time. If students are caught with their cellphone/PCD during class time, the following will occur:
First infraction: The studentโs cell phone/PCD will be confiscated and taken to the office, and the student can pick it up at the end of the day.
Second infraction: The studentโs cell phone/PCD will be confiscated and taken to the office, and the student can pick it up at the end of the day. ADDITIONALLY, administration will make a phone call to the parent(s)/guardian(s) to make them aware the cellphone/PCD has been confiscated a second time.
Third infraction: The studentโs cell phone/PCD will be confiscated, and the parent(s)/guardian(s) will be contacted and required to pick the device up at the office themselves.
Thank you for your continued support with this.
Email and Voicemail Response Times
Please allow at least one business day for a response from our team members.
While we do our best to answer promptly, responses should not be expected immediately or outside of school hours. You and your student are important to us - and we value your feedback and insight - so rest assured, we will always get back to you as soon as we are able to!
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Reporting Absences
Students absences must be reported through the Parent Portal on PowerSchool; please do not email specific staff members to report an absence, as they may not be at work that day.
PowerSchool can also be used to view grades and report cards, pay fees, and update student information (including medical information).
You can view the EICS Parent Technology Handbook for further details on these items.
To access PowerSchool, please click here.
School Fees
Effective April 1, 2026, a 3% processing fee will apply to all online credit card payments. To avoid this fee, we encourage you to use our new Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) option, which is free and secure. This option can be selected once you check out.
Student fees are available to view and pay through the Parent Portal in PowerSchool under Forms and Fees.
To access PowerSchool, please click here, and please see the EICS Parent Technology Handbook if you need assistance using PowerSchool.
Elk Island Catholic Schools will waive fees for independent students or parents/guardians if they meet certain income guidelines, are on social services or are facing exceptional circumstances. If you qualify, you may apply using the attached application form. Deadline to apply is December 15, 2026.
