Happy Friday!

It has been a great week at SMS!

Today was our 8th grade field trip to Six Flags! They had a blast and we are glad to have this day to celebrate our 8th graders.

Next week, we begin MAP testing (Tuesday and Wednesday). Please make sure to read the MAP testing info and reminders below.

8th grade parents, check out the info below for the 8th grade formal including the date, location, requirements and more! Tickets are on sale now.

As you know, I will be leaving SMS at the end of the school year to be the building principal at Ridgewood Middle School. I wanted to take the time to thank the Seckman community for their support the last few years. Seckman will always hold a special place in my heart.

Dr. Schwalbe is a great principal and a great man. I know you will show him the support you have shown me. Please make sure to reach out and welcome him to the SMS family.

MAP Testing Dates and reminders

Seckman Middle School will be MAP testing May 2nd and 3rd and May 8th, 9th, and 10th. Below are a couple things that students will need to make sure to do to prepare for MAP testing:

Please make sure students are to school on time that day. We will be testing starting promptly at 8:00am. Once testing begins, students will not be permitted in the testing rooms until the testing session has concluded.
Students will need to have a charged Chromebook. Students will need to charge their Chromebooks the night before testing so that will be able to complete the testing sessions. Please remind them to charge every night.
Please have them get plenty of sleep the night before testing. As with anything the more rest we have the better we can concentrate and function. This includes staying of devices and social media as that can affect sleep.

Teen Leader Dance for a Chance week

Mrs. Wohler's Teen Leadership class will be hosting a spirit week next week to raise awareness for various illnesses. Each day we ask for students and staff to wear specific colors that tie to each ailment. Alongside the spirit day, the students from the Teen Leadership class have paired up with a staff member to do a dance together at an all school assembly on Friday, May 5th. Students will be able to then purchase a ticket for $1 to vote for which duo performed the best during the assembly. Students can purchase multiple tickets if they like. Money raised will be donated to organizations related to each illness.

Track Intramural Info

The 2023 Track Intramurals are scheduled for May 2nd at 4:30pm at Seckman High School. If students are interested in tryouts, check out the Track Google Classroom to sign up, practice schedule, and more. The classroom code to join is owpkbso. 8th Grade Formal

The 8th grade formal will be on Friday, May 12th at Royal Orleans from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets at $25 and includes food and drink. Tickets can be purchased in the office and are on sale now trough May 5th. Tickets will need to be purchased in advance and will not be sold at the door. Please see the info and requirements below.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Mr. Perstrope would like to invite everyone to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meetings. This will be a student led and promoted group open to all!
