Safety Drills Update
In order to maintain a safe environment for our children, it is necessary that we practice our emergency safety drills that are designed to exercise our procedures on campus.
This past week, we completed the Earthquake Drill which went smoothly.
This upcoming week, we will be conducting a "Code Red" Lockdown Drill. A "Code Red" lockdown is defined as high alert status used when there is an immediate danger in the school or on property. The "Code Red" Lockdown Drill will be on October 19, 2026. Two letters have gone home with your child with this information and they've also been communicated in The Pirate Press since September.
The "Code Red" lockdown drill have been explained to students beforehand so they understand the procedures and the importance of taking them seriously. Please know that these are only practice drills and not in response to any immediate concerns.
We encourage you to talk with your child about the drills and reassure them that this is simply a way to help keep everyone safe. If you have any questions about our Safety Drills, please reach out to the school.
Federal Cards - Due Wednesday, October 21, 2026
Federal Cards will be sent home on Tuesday, October 20. These cards are important for school funding and must be completed by all families, regardless of military status.
Please complete and return your student’s Federal Card on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Please review the information and follow the instructions provided. If you have any questions about Federal Cards, please contact our Data Manager, Ms. Meredith O'Briant by phone or email: meredithobriant@ccs.k12.nc.us.
