Welcome from Principal Drew Wood

Hello Raider Families,

As we head into Spring Break, I want to thank you, our community, for the outstanding support and encouragement you have given to our school. Your kind words and actions over this past year of ups and downs have been energizing to me and to our staff. I am thankful to live in a community that is not only beautiful to the eye but one that has a collective caring and compassionate heart for one another.

Thank you all for being such great partners in educating our young people!

Have a great Spring Break and Go Raiders!!!

A Reminder From the Attendance Office

  • If your student is Track A (in-person), we expect them to be in school, in a seat. If they will not be here in person, we need to have you call in to excuse them. It is very important that we know YOU know your child is not in school. Your student may still join online, but their attendance will still reflect an absence and can be excused if you let us know. This is a state mandate.
  • If your student is Track B (virtual participating on GoogleMeets) and you know they will not be online due to illness or appointment, please call the attendance office to report those absences. If your Track B student is marked Absent, and you do not know why, or the student thinks it is in error, have your student email their teacher to see if it should be corrected. Many times a Track B student will have logged in late to class and the teacher corrects attendance after the class period is over.
  • Please contact the Attendance with any questions you might have.

COVID Procotols

  • As Governor Holcomb shared in his address on March 24, as a K-12 school we will still maintain the same COVID-19 protocols that were established at the beginning of the school year. After Spring Break, students and staff will still be required to wear face masks that cover both the moth and the nose in common spaces such as the hallway, entering the building, and when social distancing guidelines cannot be met. According to the Governor, all K-12 schools will continue under these current face-covering requirements through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.

Student Pick-up and Drop-off

  • Before and after school, please make sure to drop off or pick your student up from door 33 ONLY. Our buses drop off and pick up at door 1 and it is very important that you follow this procedure to ensure the safety of everyone!
  • Only students who are drivers or ride with a student driver are permitted to leave at 3:40. Everyone else is dismissed at 3:45.

Prom

  • Northridge Prom 2021 will be held indoors at the Orthwein Pavillion on the RV Hall of Fame campus on Saturday, May 8. Our Prom plan has been approved by Mrs. Allen and the Elkhart County Health Department.
  • There will be two ticket groups: Group A and Group B for seating. Group A will enjoy Prom from 7 pm-8:45 and Group B from 9:15-11 pm. During the intermission, both Groups A and B will gather together outside to watch the crowning of Prom King and Queen. We encourage Group B to plan for arrival close to 8:45 in order to witness this special event!

  • To safely seat 225 people, there will be 4 seating Zones of 10 tables with 6 seats per table. Students will NOT be given assigned seats but will choose their own assigned seating at the time of your ticket purchase. In each Zone, tables will be numbered, and while masks will be worn to enter the venue or when out of your seat, you will be able to mingle and dance within your Zone. Juniors and Seniors are allowed to purchase 2 tickets-- one for themselves and one for a guest.

  • Ticket sales start Monday, April 12 and each ticket is $40. Tickets will be sold during all lunches. Please email Mrs. Tammy Baughman with any questions.

March's Raider Impact Award Winners

In March, we recognized three students who received the Raider Impact Award. NHS staff members nominate students for this award when they see a student shine by doing the right thing, being kind to others, helping someone, or generally sharing positivity! This month we are proud to share pictures of Bria Jones (freshman), Dylan Beverly (freshman), and Alexis Anderson (sophomore).

Bria Jones (Freshman)

Mrs. Brown nominated Bria and said, "Bria is always willing to help other students who are upset, anxious, or having a panic attack. Recently I witnessed Bria in two different situations offer a student things to do to help them calm down. She talks calmly and politely and gives them space to collect themselves. Bria is very intuitive and helpful in these situations and it is very much appreciated."

Dylan Beverly (Freshman)

Mrs. Grossman nominated Dylan and said, "Dylan is a genuinely kind and compassionate young man. He goes out of his way to make certain that people don't feel left out and that marginalized kids are being seen and heard."

Alexis Anderson (Sophomore)

Ms. Zachar nominated Alexis and said, "Alexis is one of the kindest and most encouraging students in my classes. She was especially good at voicing positive thoughts for her classmates while we were online earlier in the year."
