Who are you trying to be?
As we navigate the opportunities and challenges of the school year, let's remember the true measure of our success: not against others, but against ourselves. Our daily commitment and consistent actions define who we are and the future we build together.
This powerful idea is captured beautifully in this quote: "The moment you stop comparing and competing, you begin to enjoy the unique ride of life. Focus on being better than you were yesterday, not better than someone else today."
How can we stop trying to compete with each other and bring our best for ourselves each day?

Message for the Week:
Message from Mr. Tejkl
Who are you competing with...
Good morning!
The final week of the quarter is upon us?!?! The time has gone fast and it has been a great start to the year. We have had many highs, a few lows, but a lot of learning opportunities through our first 9 weeks! The question is what can we do as we move forward? The biggest challenge is looking in the mirror and not looking across the street to compare to others...
he heart of our success this year lies in the commitment to personal growth and this quote hits home: "The moment you stop comparing and competing, you begin to enjoy the unique ride of life. Focus on being better than you were yesterday, not better than someone else today."
This is more than nice wording; it’s a critical lens through which we measure our progress. When we look outward, comparing ourselves to others’ highlight reels, we lose energy and focus. When we look inward, however, we embrace our own journey, recognizing that our challenge is only to improve upon our past selves. This perspective frees both students and staff to focus all of our energy on our own path, making every day count and building a culture where authenticity and personal growth are valued above all else.
This commitment to being better than we were yesterday is where the principle of ACTION over words takes root. Excellence at SRC isn't achieved through mission statements or one-time successes; it's the result of many small, consistent efforts made daily. We are defined not by what we say we will do, but by how we show up and represent everyday—the quiet dedication to a challenging lesson, the choice to act with integrity when no one is watching, and the consistent effort to support a colleague or student. By making this daily effort the only thing we look at, we create a powerful culture of accountability and growth, ensuring that our collective character is stronger than our reputation.
Have a great rest of your Sunday!
Quote of the week to reflect on:
"Stop comparing yourself to others. Always strive to improve yourself to become better today than yhou were yesterday to serve those around you and the world."
Roy T. Bennett
Sincerely,
Tucker Tejkl
