We have some incredible news to share from our latest student engagement survey! When asked the question, "I am hopeful about my future," during our last district student engagement survey, our Bengals are sending a clear message: their optimism is at an all-time high.

Check out this steady climb in our student's confidence over the last several years:

● 2024-25: 3.66 (Our highest yet!)

● 2023-24: 3.64

● 2022-23: 3.59

● 2021-22: 3.56

● 2020-21: 3.51

● 2019-20: 3.58

This upward trend is a testament to our students' resilience and the incredible support from our families and staff. By focusing on personalized learning and building strong relationships, we are helping our students feel ready to take on the world. Thank you for partnering with us to keep this momentum going!

Minnesota State Math Competition Minnesota State Math Competition

Please congratulate Taison Scofield and Andrew Moline for representing BHS at the MN State Math Competition. Both students performed really well and represented BHS with pride!

Taison claimed 3rd place as an individual overall at the tournament. He also was invited to participate in the Math Bowl against 9 other students. This consisted of 8 questions where students had a range of 45 to 90 seconds to figure out the answer. He only missed one question and tied for 2nd place.

Reminder: No school Friday, May 1, 2026 Reminder: No school Friday, May 1, 2026

The district shared updates with families in September about a calendar change for the 2025-26 school year after the School Board amended it at its regular meeting Aug. 25.

What it means: Students will not attend school on May 1. This will be a professional development day for school staff.

Why it matters: The move was necessary due to support instruction and advanced placement (AP) testing for high school students.

Anoka-Hennepin students with a mastery of world languages can use that knowledge to earn special recognitions – World Language Proficiency Certificates or Bilingual/Multilingual Seals.

What are the certificates and seals?: The Minnesota World Language Proficiency Certificate and Bilingual and Multilingual Seals were created by the state of Minnesota as an official recognition of proficiency in a language in addition to English. There are three award levels that denote specific language abilities, and students who prove their proficiency, either through study or as native speakers, will have a notation entered on their high school transcript to reflect their functional abilities in the language.

Additionally, college credit can be awarded to these students who attend or transfer to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and select other post-secondary institutions within three years of graduation from Anoka-Hennepin.

Testing information:

  • Thursday, June 11, 2026 (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) at the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Service Center. Registration will close on May 8.

Students can take the Bilingual Seal Exams in Arabic, ASL, Mandarin (Simplified), Mandarin (Traditional), English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, and Spanish.

The testing fees are outlined below:

  • Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (Simplified), Mandarin (Traditional), Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, and Spanish: $30

  • ASL: $45

  • Hebrew: $70

Families who qualify for educational benefits will have a reduced fee applied.

Who can take the exam? Any interested 10th, 11th and 12th grade students can register to take an exam.

Dig deeper: To learn more about this opportunity, see the languages currently available, and register to take an exam, visit ahschools.us/bilingualseal.
