Superintendent Update
January 23, 2026
Cliff's Notes
Dear Bedford Public Schools Community,
The annual Open Budget Hearing is scheduled to be held during the January 27th school committee meeting, when the committee is expected to vote on the proposed FY27 budget, which can be found at FY2027 Budget | Bedford Public Schools. As we approach this important milestone for our community, especially in the context of the Town's larger financial challenges, I urge us to follow the lead of Bolo and Max (pictured), two of our comfort animals, who now happily work together to support our students and staff.
Best,
Cliff Chuang 莊 宏 毅
Superintendent, Bedford Public Schools

At their January 13th meeting, the committee approved the 2026-2027 District Calendar. The first day of school for students will be Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and the tentative last day of school will be Wednesday, June 16, 2027, pending any weather-related closures. Please note that the 2026–2027 school year will include the addition of a third early dismissal day, scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, 2026. Traditionally, early dismissal days have occurred only on the day before Thanksgiving and the last day of school; this additional early release allows for thoughtful planning ahead of the winter break. The next school committee meeting is being held on Tuesday, January 27th which is Finance-Focused and also the FY27 Open Budget Hearing, not to start before 7:00pm. Meeting agendas, schedules, and supporting documents are always available at School Committee - Meeting Schedule & Supporting Documents.
